I love collecting dictionary programs.
here's a nice freeware one i hadn't seen before, on a page with a few other interesting linguistic tools:
The Sage:
http://www.sequencepublishing.com/thesage.html
The Dictionary comprises:
More than 145,000 references with multiple detailed definitions (over 200,000).
A large collection of examples of usage (approx. 35,000).
Encyclopedic information (geographical, historical, political,...).
Academic knowledge (medicine, biology,... ).
The Thesaurus encompasses:
Synonyms, antonyms, hypernyms, hyponyms, meronyms, holonyms,...
Nearly 1,200,000 relationships between definitions.
The essential functionality includes the following:
Tabbed interface allowing multiple definitions and searches to be readily available.
Quick cross-referencing (any and all displayed words are clickable, triggering a lookup).
Standard and advanced wildcard search functionality.
Anagram search.
History and session record keeping.
Options that allow customization of the appearance of TheSage.
Copy to clipboard of all or part of the information displayed.
edit: forgot to mention, found via the great snapfiles.com

Well, mouser, you've ruined another website! ;) When you visit the link it says, "The site you are looking for has exceeded its monthly bandwidth allowance." Fortunately, August is a week away.

And another free dictionary, searches online wordnet:

I just downloaded the Sage, and it really seems very good.
I thought I remembered a post this week or last, with a link to another dictionary program, but I couldn't turn up anything with a search of the forums. Is Sage what you're using now, Mouser? I know you share my love of such programs, so I'm interested to know what you use.
My Visual Thesaurus is brilliant, but sometimes I need more of a definition, and I would especially like to have etymology, since I often use this. There is a very pretty Konfabulator (the transition to calling it 'Yahoo Widget Engine' will not be easy for me!) dictionary widget, which can search a number of online dictionaries - that will probably be my choice when I'm connected, but I need something for online use too.

mobysaurus was the thesaurus i posted about recently (https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=1881.0)

thesage (http://www.sequencepublishing.com/thesage.html)
is really starting to look good as a dictionary, and also has thesaurus functions:

but i still prefer mobysaurus (http://www.mobysaurus.com) for pure thesaurus stuff:

of course we shouldn't forget wordweb, which while it isn't free, is one of the fastest and best such tools and is only $20
