As you guys know we occasionally send out DC mugs to members, like these:
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
It would be nice to have a couple more designs for different purposes, like a mug/t-shirt design for programmers who release a bunch of Coding Snack tools. There might be other occasions that would be nice to honor as well (graduation? military service?).
I'm just posting this in case any DC members who are artists stumble across this and want to give it a shot.. I know we are all faithful to our beloved DC member Nudone and his Cody artwork, but I know he wouldn't mind if we had some alternative designs just to mix things up.

Sounds like a fun project. Ideas:
Cody on a coin. Like a Roman Emperor or full body. Laurel wreath optional. "D C C" on it. Different metal, (gold, silver, bronze, brass, lead). Coin phrase: 'birds of a feather', 'coin of the ml', 'avian emptor', 'in code we trust', 'in hoc signo'. 'pecking in order to'.
'Bar Cody' holding a beer mug. Cody shaking feathers with a Penguin or Turkey or Loon. Bird brained Cody with an Ostrich feather.

Cody coin 1?

Nice work, sword

PNG files for Windows icons using Irfanview.

Cody stamp 1.

An old-fashioned style Cody rubber-stamp would be nice -
if anyone has the skill/software to create that
-
Is there a Cody vector available? Would make it easier to come up with something.

For Coding Snacks, I was thinking of a lunch truck (maybe in a hippy van sort of style), with Cody at the window, either as the vendor (inside the truck) or as the customer (standing on the outside, placing an order). Where a lunch truck would usually have the name of it displayed, above the window, it would say "Coding Snacks". Depending on how comical one would want to make it, the text above the window could be done to resemble sloppy hand painted letters.
-
Good idea. Suggestions?
-
ha! that's fun, i like it.

Is cody drinking a beer? :tellme: (JK, of couse ;) )
-
I was trying for an old telescope. Beer is good ;D but can't think of a setting :-\
-
Random comment, I'm not a Mug guy. But tshirts could be fun.
-
I will try a T shirt design. My understanding is that the design should have few colors so I will try one in the style of Tiepolo. What dimensions or formats are best?
Possible style influence: Tiepolo, Daumier, Klee, Goya, Manet, Rembrandt, other.
Based on: watercolor, ink, charcoal, pastel.
-
Tshirt samples. Separate colors easily changeable.

What is DCC?

Call me crazy but i still like the primitive-art style of the Coding Snacks Food Truck image by sword above.

Should I design some more in this style?

(Unfinished and yes I know about the mistakes)

I'd also love to see a cody/dc design in a dark matrix/cyber/hacker style like:

Criticize, correct or suggest away. I'm not 'sensitive'. ;D
Dark Cody.

-sword
Not entirely true...
Cafe Press, which is where the DC mugs and T-shirts come from, does great full color printing. The only real issue is the color white on most things that have a base color. Instead of coming up white, it lets the color of the item show through. I have a gray sweat jacket with the left half of this Cody image on it (from 2008), and everything that is white, including Cody, is gray.

@app103
Thanks. I could make any next designs using pale yellow or something. Others are doing a better job. I have only owned two, plain dark green sweat shirts and know almost nothing about them :)

Cody and highly suspect genealogy. :) Just for fun.

what did you draw that one with?
-
@tomos
Photoshop. One color, a warm orange-brown (226 - 199 - 115). Layers: 40% transparent line sketch above a couple of layers for lighter and darker 'washes' and above a mid-tone fill layer. The 'washes' were about 15% to 30% transparent blurry edge brushes. It is fast to do. Daumier liked combining ink, charcoal and transparent watercolor for a fresh 'sketch' look.

I really, really like this! Did you draw it with a mouse?

Thanks. I'm glad you both liked it. More to come. Drawn with a two-button mouse, Logitech model M-CAA42.

I took a minimal approach.

Sword, if you make a Cody image that is 1662x600 pixels, I will have a mug made and sent to you. You can have it say whatever you want.
-
I will, thanks. "From mouser" would be great. PM later with address.

Not a mug or a T-shirt. Just the rough back image for a set of CodyCards:

This was an image I made for the banner for my new project (http://geekgoods.tk), that I kind of altered to insert Cody. It's the right size for a mug if mouser would like to use it for that.
The whole thing is a Paintshop Pro vector, including Cody. Yes, I know he seems to be "missing" something. It's a complete recreation of him done from a trace, without all the shadows and shading. I thought it better suited the simple style of the rest of the image and he would look less out of place.
Attached in the .zip is the vector of Cody by himself, in case there are any Paintshop Pro users that would like to use it in some of their own Cody tribute art. It will work just fine in any PSP version from v.7 and up. (the ninjas can be found here (http://russograffix.blogspot.com/2012/08/free-psp-vectors-pirates-vs-ninjas-cc-by.html))
Because it is a vector, it will be very easy to move or remove the coin without messing up the whole image. You can even change the colors, replace them with gradients, or pose him, if you want. Every object is clearly labeled, so you can easily tell what is what.

All in all, too much Cody, too little DonationCoder.com, I think -
not-members will not have a chance to understand what a bird of a kind is doing there.

Non-members probably wouldn't be interested in owning a t-shirt or mug from here. And if you own one, it can be a good conversation starter, especially if they don't get it and you have to explain. ;)
-
Thanks for the feedback. I will try other themes. Cheers
