Title: Screen Recorder used by DCC?
Post by: zridling on April 20, 2005, 04:20 AM
I've been using BB Flashback (http://www.bbsoftware.co.uk/BBFlashBack.aspx) for my screen recording demos, but am wondering what DonationCoder.com (DCC) uses in its demos, e.g., in the Best Compare Tool (https://www.donationcoder.com/Reviews/Archive/CompareTools/index.html) review of Beyond Compare?

i used macromedia captivate.
i've tried a lot of them but must admit havent formed a definitive opinion about which is best.

captivate seems to handle audio very well.  it does occassionally hickup when capturing video.

i'd like to do an award for best flash screen capture tool / demo maker - its a great kind of program and identifying the best one would be nice.. there are a lot of them now.  i'm going to check out the bb and see how it compares.

there is also Wink, which is FREE:

(don't think it does sound though).

I've tried a lot of screen recording software about year ago and I've stuck to BB (Express). For me choice was obvious: it offered the easiest way to record anything and the size of created Flash files was the smallest.

Although Wink is pretty interesting and I saw dozen presentations created with it on various websites. So it might be good as free alternative.

The only tool which was too strange for me to use was Camtasia Studio (I've got licence for v. 2). I used it not more than 5 times and forgot easily.

Camtasia is one of the most powerful, BB Flashback is excellent too, both commercial.
Wink, as mentioned before, is very good for less live-motion and more slide-based stuff, and is fee.
