it's been a long time coming but now it's official...

Cody now has his very own website

wtfcody.com

to find out more you'll have to visit his new home.

never fear, Cody isn't going anywhere. he remains the full-time mascot at DonationCoder.com - his new home just allows him a bigger playground.

i hope you'll drop in on Cody and leave him a message or two. there will be prizes for things running on wtfcody.com - the first of which will be a special mug to the best 'ask cody' question that someone puts forth - a winner will be picked at the end of March (hopefully we'll keep the prizes coming each month).

that's it for the moment. i hope you enjoy what you find.

And it really is a work of art too.  The best part, i think, is the free advice "ask cody" page.  I know i've been meaning to hire a professional psychologist but now that Cody's advice page is up hopefully i can save myself a few dollars.

Of course, reading the faq (http://wtfcody.com/content/wp-content/themes/main/comic.html) is usually a much better way to get to the bottom of things...  :-[

Good question!

I'll take a look and see if ABP reports *why* an element was blocked...
EDIT: nice, it does. "Show blockable items", find the three entries highlighted in red, hover mouse... "Filter in effect: /*banner*".

I left a long-winded comment for Cody, which is awaiting moderation it would appear. Moderation? Never! Pass me another brewski! [I did notice one thing... I foolishly put in an HTMLish "<comment here>" (without the quotes), which got replaced by a single space after posting. Obviously, I should have used some other type of "bracket".]

as it is a 'question' you could have put it in the 'ask cody' section. i'll leave it where it is as it is the first official 'comment' to be made. i think cody will still answer it on the 'ask' page.

Hey, nudone... please do move the "comment" (assuredly long!), which indeed eventually asked a question or two, into the natural place, i.e. the "ask" page - let someone else make a "real" comment (hopefully not too long, eh). I'm in a wordy mood today, as this very sentence proves.

Mouser how about adding a link to the banner here when you click on Cody - you could have a roll over setting so that if the mouse passes over him he say "Hi there, have we clicked yet?"

What does the WTF stand for (or is it too obvious)?

wtf might stand for the obvious - or it might not - it's entirely up to the reader to decide. there is a little more explanation in the FAQ section of the site.

i think the idea must have got lost during getting the site ready. i was going to have an obvious DonationCoder.com banner but it someone didn't end up on the final site - it was there up to the very last minute.

what are the suggestions for the banner?

my original design had the DC banner at the bottom of each page - the banner resembled a hanging picture frame. This may not be the best idea.

I can make the top banner a link somehow or there can be some other obvious DC link.

Ideas?

How about a coin with DC on it that slides in and out from behind the golden edge at random positions? When clicked it opens a new window to DC...

i like that idea. i'd have to figure out how to do it though.

and by some strange coincidence it might not work with something i'm trying to do with the site right now regarding transparency.

maybe a variation on the idea will work.

Or how about a roll over where Cody peeps out and invites people to visit his workplace?

You could have a flash animate click through page that shows Cody with his suit and tie commuting to the office ...

thanks, tinyvillager. it seems to have taken forever to make wtfcody.com - it was one of the first things i was meant to do during the DC GTD experiment. oh well, better late than never.
