Anyone know of a "freebie" that will identify your USB ports as USB 1.0 or 2.0? I've seen several that show you what's hooked up to the port, but not the actual port speed.....

USBDeview (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html) maybe? Otherwise, have a look at Unknown Device Identifier (http://www.zhangduo.com/udi.html).

Thanks PhilB, I downloaded USBDeview right after I posted this thread but haven't had a chance to install it yet. I'm going to check out the other one you suggested if it don't work.....

- USBDeview is a portable app, just unzip and run USBDeview.exe.
- See this thread (http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=194) @ the Portable Freeware Collection about Unknown Device Identifier. There's a way to run it as a portable app and remove Internet shortcut it deposits on the desktop. To update the devices list go to http://members.datafast.net.au/dft0802/downloads/pcidevs.txt and the latest USB Device list is @ http://www.linux-usb.org/usb.ids

Actually, SIV (http://rh-software.com/) ("System Information Viewer") would do that and much, much more.

Whoa PhilB, SIV looks very impressive. I'm downloading it now. I'll install it and forget about the other ones. I came across this once in the past but didn't give it much thought, hindsight being 20/20 and all. lol. Thanx again...

Thanks Phil! :)
After the departure from Aida32, I found a good alternative in Gabriel Topala's SIW (http://www.gtopala.com/), which is at least as good as...and it's portable (and no, everest was nowhere near as nice as Aida was!).
However, SIV is really down to earth and although the overlap in supplied information from both applications is there, it is an excellent extension to SIW.
