Herd Of Drunken Elephants Ransack Indian Village After Drinking Purloined Liquor
A pack of boozing elephants turned a small Indian village upside down Sunday as they trampled crops and homes in search of a strong local alcoholic beverage called Mahua.
About 50 elephants had been drawn out of the jungle by the smell of the drink, according to the Times of India, and their first stop was a shop that sold the beverage. The elephants made quick work of the shop's supply --18 containers of the drink, made from the nectar-rich flowers of the mahua tree.

Animals are generally tolerant of those that they have bonded with. It's their way of acknowledging a family unit. Now if a member of that bonded family is threatened - since they don't suffer any of the idiotic societal notions we people have concocted - the response, quite predictably, is and will be sudden, hostile, and without warning ... As it should be.-Stoic Joker (May 15, 2014, 11:43 AM)

there are lots of videos of cats defending territory or in general antagonizing a dog that is in their area -- but such videos show very different behavior than what we see in the video above.
In such territorial cases the cat approaches with claws front, back up and attempts to scare off and intimidate the intruder, etc.

A hippo in Botswana, apparently quite annoyed by the paparazzi, made its feelings well known when it thundered after a boatload of tourists. The result, captured in the video below, is kinda like Jaws meets Moby Dick meets the "Must go faster!!" scene in Jurassic Park.
Discovery News reports:
Members of a tour group on Botswana's Chobe River got an unexpected scare when their boat nearly ran afoul of the business end of a hippo in hot pursuit.
Luckily for the Internet, David Jackson and his son Craig had an iPhone at the ready and caught the chase on video. (See the footage below, courtesy of YouTube/Craig Clive Jackson and Pangolin Photo Safaris.)
"The hippo was closer to the boat than what it appears on the video," the elder Jackson wrote on YouTube. "It is amazing how fast a hippo can move in water."

One cool thing is their eyes; the pupils are round instead of typical cat slits. Beautiful creatures.-Edvard (April 19, 2015, 01:50 AM)
Round
Among the great cats, lions, tigers and cougars have round pupils. Round pupils give good vision in the daytime, and they can close to pinpoints to protect the sensitive inner structures of the eyes from too much light. They can also expand in low-light situations, such as dawn and dusk, to allow some night hunting.
Slit
Slit pupils can open and close faster than round ones, and wider, too. Your cat's eyeballs aren't much smaller than yours, but their pupils can open three times larger than yours. This lets her take advantage of the smallest amount of available light -- including starlight and snow glow -- for nighttime hunting. Jaguars and leopards haunt the dimness of the tropical rainforest but also come out occasionally on the open savannah to hunt at dawn and dusk. Because they spend most of their time in semi-darkness, slit pupils work best for them.
Horizontal
You won't find horizontal pupils on any cats, but lots of grazing animals -- goats, sheep, cattle, horses, kangaroos, hippopotamuses -- have them so they can see big cats (or other predators) sneaking up on them. They have three-dimensional vision for 330 degrees: almost all the way around their heads. That means that when you're riding a horse, he can see you sitting on his back.
Vertical
Cats that hunt primarily at night or in low-light conditions have vertical-slit pupils. Because they are predators and not prey, they don't need to see what's sneaking up behind them -- they're doing the sneaking. Vertical slits work well for domestic cats and many small wild cats. With vertical-slit pupils and horizontally opening eyelids, cats have exquisite and precise control of the amount of light that enters their eyes. They can even express feelings with the pupils of their eyes. If Fluffy's pupils are slits in daylight, she's calm and relaxed. On the other hand, if her pupils are dilated round in bright light, something's wrong -- she's probably ready to run for her life or kill something.

Sometimes, all it takes is one person to believe in you to make all the difference in one’s life.
Here at LittleThings, we believe every life is equal and no animal is too small or worthless to give up on. That’s why we love sharing amazing “comeback” stories about people oranimals who have triumphed over unthinkable tragedies.
In the following video, we learn about a dog named Kenny who was seen as a lost cause after an accident severely damaged his spine and left him paralyzed. Experts believed the Doberman pinscher should be euthanized and put out of his misery, but the amazing people of rescue organization Two Hands Four Paws saw potential in Kenny and refused to let that be the case.
Much like this paralyzed dog, multiple surgeries, 6 months of rehabilitation, and lots of love were required, but ultimately it completely changed Kenny’s life around! It was a long road for this sweet and courageous dog, but when you see him around 2:48, I guarantee you’ll be blown away.
His story really proves that anything is possible with a little faith and TLC. Way to go Two Hands Four Paws!
One of the most striking aspects to the testimonials one hears is how often the dogs are credited with literally saving people’s lives. The dog is often the catalyst that liberates them from self-destructive drug or alcohol addictions, or suppresses the suicide impulse, or alleviates depression, or creates a determination to stabilize and improve their lives. Professor Irvine told me, “This is the redemptive value of the relationship, which one hears over and over as you talk to the homeless.”
A Pennsylvania dog proved his ultimate loyalty on Thursday after his owner was injured while hiking.
The four legged hero named "Guy" led rescuers to his 79-year-old owner who fell and hit his head while hiking in the woods.
The dog reportedly ran up the bank where the rescuers were, and would stop every 20-30 feet, barking until he led them to where the elder man was lying.
Rescuers say the man had been in the woods for more than 12 hours when they found him.
"It was like watching an episode of 'Lassie,'" says emergency responder, Matthew Mariscano.

Dog thinks the moon is a ball.Well, well. How curious. Of the hundred or so dogs that have passed through my hands for care/training, I've never seen that in a dog before - even with the most ball-crazy ones (which are usually my favourites). Maybe that was because they had just never looked up and noticed the moon, but if they did, or had it pointed out to them (with a "Go fetch!"), then it could (I suppose) probably look like a whitish ball hanging in the air, to them. Dogs don't usually look up very much without a cue (no natural aerial threats), unless (say) it's a retriever trained to spot birds falling after being shot.

I'd never considered that before. But I suppose you're not alone in your observation, and that's why she referred to them as "flying foxes" in the video.-Deozaan (December 14, 2017, 04:28 AM)

Baloo eventually came to the realization that perhaps animals from the backyard weren't what her human wanted. But rather than give up hunting things for Ben entirely, she simply switched up the kinds of gift she was giving.
If he doesn't enjoy mice and birds, perhaps a leaf will be more to his liking? And sure enough, it was.
"It took a couple of months of me rejecting her gifts for her to start bringing me leaves. They were always big, nice looking leaves," Ben said. "It was such a relief from the live mice every morning that I would show my gratitude by taking the leaf and playing with it while she sat on my chest." Baloo had gotten the message. Every morning the cat would then find a perfect leaf and bring in to Ben..
