Ready to mess your pants? Get some Depends if you don't want to change your underwear... You've been warned... ;)
http://www.anl.gov/articles/no-magic-show-real-world-levitation-inspire-better-pharmaceuticals
Scientists at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory have discovered a way to use sound waves to levitate individual droplets of solutions containing different pharmaceuticals. While the connection between levitation and drug development may not be immediately apparent, a special relationship emerges at the molecular level.
I want my landspeeder. Now. And my lightsaber! NOW! :P

holy shit!!!

you've seen this one I'm presuming:
-
My GF showed me the first video last Sunday. That is really amazing!

Don't know about the first video, but that second one is a hoax: http://www.robots-dreams.com/2012/01/wipeout-quantum-levitation-hoax-revealed-video.html
Hopefully, the first one is real technology :)
[edit] oops, not true. see bellow [/edit]

The second one isn't a hoax. Quantum levitation is real. The hoax was that the Wipeout course was computer generated and not really using quantum levitation. Or at least that's what I understood from your link.

Looks genuine to me still and I've seen similar levitation stuff using magnets and very cold objects (which we've all probably seen too).

You are absolutely right. Sorry for the mix-up, I remembered seing that one of these quantum levitation videos was a hoax and assumed the whole technology didn't exist. Then the videos are really awesome!

I've seen acoustic levitation before, in those old Moody Science films when Dr. Irwin Moon did it with a Hartmann whistle, a parabolic reflector and pieces of cork. He'd place the cork pieces in the nodes of the standing waves made by the reflector. Looks like that's what is going on in the first video, albeit a bit more modern. Nice find Ren!
