Title: Omgili - Google Like Search But Limited to Forums
Post by: mouser on September 29, 2006, 09:18 AM
Omgili - Google Like Search But Limited to Forums, a really nice idea.

Omgili is a search engine designed to index web-based discussion forums. Omgili's unique algorithm analyzes forums not as a simple web page, but as an active discussion with a title, topic and replies.

Omgili was created in order to separate ordinary web pages from information rich discussion forums. The information contained in online forums is typically presented in a "question and answer" or debate style format. How is this significant?

Unfortunatelly, it suffers from the same problem google search does. It is indexed, which means that posts that were made after the indexing don't appear on the results. Here's an example:

(which should only work for some time)

Nevertheless, it looks like a very good service that sure will be useful!

I was thinking if there was something like this after posting a request for something that there is already a thread going since March or so. The forum search is not as good, I find.
