Bits du Jour (http://www.bitsdujour.com/) has an offer on the UltraEdit Bundle (http://www.bitsdujour.com/software/ultraedit-bundle/) of UltraEdit, UltraCompare, and UltraSentry for 31 August 2009. Deal price $49.95, list price $139.95, you save 65%.
UltraEdit is mouser's favourite editor and came top in the DC Best Text Editor review (though the review is getting out of date). As well as the editor, the bundle includes UltraCompare that lets you instantly review the differences between up to three files or folders, and support file merging and FTP. Finally, UltraSentry is an application that deletes data to United States Department of Defense standards, making files and folders unrecoverable, and offers secure disk sanitation, registry cleaning, and advanced browser security.

I still really like ultraedit.
It should be pointed out though that the other two applications that are bundled..
- For file and folder comparisons I swear by "Beyond Compare" and the free WinMerge is very good (though i don't know how it compares to the latest version of UltraCompare).
- For secure file deletion and registry/browser cleanup, there are terrific free programs (Eraser and CCleaner for example).
-
What it basically works out to is that you get UltraSentry and UltraCompare for free, considering the fact that UltraEdit is normally 49.95 in any case.

Like Mouser, I really like UltraEdit. For years, I went back and forth between Boxer and UltraEdit as my favorite text editor, but UltraEdit finally won out. I'm still using version 14, having seen no reason to pay $ to move to version 15. And I also second Mouser's views on Beyond Compare (http://www.scootersoftware.com/) for comparing files and Eraser (http://eraser.heidi.ie/) for deleting them securely. Still, if you don't already use UltraEdit and want to buy it, the BduJ offer seems to me very attractive.

It looks like the deal might be postponed (or off) - it no longer shows on the BDJ preview page and if you go directly to the BDJ UltraEdit deal page the date of the offer is now "???".

I'm seeing that today too :( I've e-mailed BdJ to ask what happened.
-
I just heard back from BdJ. The vendor had to postpone owing to some eCommerce complications, but the UltraEdit bundle will be back on the BdJ schedule, they hope within the next few weeks.

For anyone who is more interested in UltraEdit Studio instead of the plain UltraEdit, UEStudio is on sale right now for $80 ($50 off the regular price of $130):

@Mwb1100, thank you for the info.. I upgraded, with second year included. $89.91 was the total price. at least some money saved on a rather good product.

The UltraEdit bundle deal is back on the BDJ schedule (for Sept 14 - Sept 18). As wraith808 said, the deal boils down to getting UltraCompare and UltraSentry for free. Like mouser, I prefer Beyond Compare, but UltraCompare is definitely a worthy compare utility. I have found little use for programs like UltraSentry. But others may have different opinions.
If you're thinking about getting UE, it's probably a good idea to wait a couple weeks to get a couple other programs thrown in for free. But I guess I'm stating the obvious.
And don't forget, if you'd prefer UltraEdit Studio, the IDM sale is still on (something like 40% off) and it apparently applies to upgrades, too.

I swear I saw it with my own two eyes (plus glasses) the day you posted. But now the deal is off the BdJ page again, just when I thought I'd add another piece to my collection of text editors :)
Still can't find one editor to rule them all. (https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=18062.0) Today, I'd say HippoEdit - but not quite, because without scripting I can't use it for half the tasks. UltraEdit, you're such a tease!
On edit: The deal is now back online (http://www.bitsdujour.com/software/ultraedit-bundle/), valid from today until September 18th.

I'm a fan of UltraEdit, but this is one of those deals where unless you have real use for the other items in the bundle (which you very well may not) you're not saving much money.
-
That's right, i am still waiting for an deal to buy UE alone for an half of the original $60 (UE.com (http://www.ultraedit.com/index.html)).

And you'll be waiting for a long time, if the feel I got from talking with the IDM representative about a discount for DC is correct. They don't really believe in discounting the primary product- just piling stuff on to make the bundle sell for the same price as the primary software.
-
Yes, i think for feeling is right.
Luckily i don't really need this product since there are many other good editors around.
It's just my sense of collecting such tools who let me be after this :P
I hope my english isn't as bad as i think it is.

Yes, I think I ought to learn to use the tools I've got rather than accumulate new ones, but, oh dear, DC is all about software addiction ;)
