Ok so let's try to get the mugs out this weekend.. i think what we will do is offer your choice of 2 mugs, like we did last year.
Everyone who released one or more NANY's gets a mug.
First will be the canonical NANY Cody mug with the 2011 date. And the second will be the Explosion Cody NANY mug.
The easiest way to send them I think is what i did last time, which was to send email gift certificates from cafepress with a link to the mugs so you can fill in your own shipping info and deal with them if there is any trouble.
If you already have a couple of NANY mugs and don't want any more we can figure out some alternative -- a shirt or something.
Does that sound ok?

Ah good - I do see a bear. I treasure the NANY mugs greatly, but there're some good alternatives, which is nice.

I have an offer to make as well: I want to make and send a t-shirt to every NANY paticipant. mouser said it'll be too expensive, but I thought about grouping them by country and have someone in that country take care of further delivery.
This will take a while to organize...
The design of the shirts is also not done yet. To keep production effort minimal only rather simple designs are acceptable: I will have to cut the designs in foil, put it on the shirt and iron it for fixation. This has to be repeated for every shirt and color. Anyway I am willing to handle productions and the first round of distribution.
So how about we start a new thread to gather all the needed information: how many shirts of which size to send where. That thread would also be the place to check all the details I have overlooked and to answer questions and raise concerns.
The shirts will be free, and I hope to be able to cover most of the shipping expenses with donationcredits.

I used to order the mugs directly shipped to me and then send them out from my home. It was a ton of extra work but i figured it has to be cheaper to order a bulk amount of mugs.
However with shipping prices in the US through the roof, it turns out to be cheaper (and a ton less work) to let CafePress drop ship them from china or wherever, individually to each person.
This is my way of saying that while you might think you can come up with a cheaper way to make and ship them by doing a lot of work, it might simply be the case that an online site like cafepress or whatever has just optimized things well enough that they do a cheaper job of sending things directly from the factory to different people.
As for a shirt, i think it's a great idea.. but something to consider. If there are 30 entries in the NANY, it means we spend about $600 on mugs each year (about $20 each; often more because people who participate in NANY multiple years can ask for something more elaborate than a mug). Even if you got the tshirts to half price including shipping, it's a lot of money.
HOWEVER, I think a really nice NANY shirt design would be fantastic, and might be something people would prefer over a mug, or might be willing to buy themselves at cost in addition to the mug.
So my advice is, don't worry about sending out free shirts -- instead concentrate all efforts on having a reallllllly cool new style NANY/CODY shirt made that people would LOVE to have.. Something really special. Maybe it doesnt have to be NANY specific, but an awesome CODY DC shirt.. The plain white tshirts with a picture of cody just don't cut it. We need something really modern and nice I think. Then we can worry about how people get it later.

It is indeed. You don't have to send me a mug. I don't think I've earned one with my meagre contribution for this year's NANY. I'm going to buy the shirt though if you can come up with a cool one. 8)

One really easy thing to do is send everyone the approximately $20 cafepress gift certificate for the mug -- and if people want to upgrade a pay the difference in order to get something more expensive at cafepress (like a hoodie, etc.) they can do that easily.

I am sure it'll include Cody and "donationcoder" somewhere, and I don't think I can help but include "c-base" somewhere too. Maybe designing this as an community effort on c-base side will raise awareness.

I've been hounding cafepress support staff for almost 2 weeks not to fix their gift certificate page, with little luck. They keep insisting it will be working any day now, but it just drags on..
At this point what I may do is start ordering them shipped directly to users who want to send me their shipping address.
You can pm me the info and tell me which mug you want, the standard one with cody at the keyboard, or the exploding cody one.
And if you are outside the USA, please tell me your address in a format suitable for the order form: Tell me what your street address is, your Town/City, your State/Province, and your Zip/Postal Code.

To anone ordering from euro zone - you'll save dc over US$4 if you order in US dollars (as opposed to in euros).
Possibly the same when ordering from the UK but I didnt check there...

Ordered here too. I chose the other design, with Twiggles making a bold escape from the awful and mighty robot. Can't find the image right now of course, but you know the one I mean.

I finally ordered my mug too! I was in a quandary about which one to get and the laser tower was quite provoking. In the end, I chose the "exhausted Cody" because I thought it represented the true NANY participation experience!

Actually, I'd just had the car in the shop, and instead rented a car for the trip. I'd just gotten back from getting the mug and picking up the car there. Still need to go make that cappuccino now... Been doing the typical reading-DC-procrastination-thing...

Maybe what Ath means is that next year you and your son should work on a program entry together as a team for NANY 2012, and then you can pose with both of you holding your own mugs :)

But, he does helps me in making Apps, by giving me big hugs, whenever I feel down in my work pressure :)
Btw, he did lift the DC Mug, see he is shaking it in joy. It is much lighter than the love and affection I get from the DC members.

I'm going to be funny and "Donate" what would have been the costs of my gift back to DC! I operate a bit like a comet in that I swing in with fanfare only to achieve that month's goals, then I swing out again, so I wanted to leave some goodwill rather than Top-Keyboard characters!
