I'm @ work and too busy to write more, but I'm sure you folks can fill in the details in the replies to this post.

It is a very cool free web service that allows you to print only what you want from a web page along with several excellent options. Think of it as FinePrint (https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=6519.0) for the web.

Wow that's amazing!
-
Not sure if it's my connection but getting a page load error.
-
just worked fine for me, nice find tinjaw

good find, tinjaw! this will come in handy when i'm not using Firefox. i normally rely on the add-on called Aardvark to remove the fluff when using Firefox.

I might need that one day... Usually I don't print anything (have been living without a printer for 6 years now), but maybe, just maybe, I'll be in a situation where I must print something. Then I can at least go to a place where they have internet and printer, and ask for a favor since I won't waste their dead trees.
Services like this are important imho; those that fill in the "little" needs, because the "smaller" the need the more people are likely to have it.

+1 for Aardvark. While it's not perfect, I can't imagine how anything could do any better without a ton of work from the user. Link here: http://karmatics.com/aardvark/

This looks like just what I have been looking for. My only problem is that when I clicked on your link I got to try it out but could not find a download link for it. What am I missing?

WOW - how have I not seen Aardvark before - +10 from me instantly.

Probably the bold green "Enter a url to start" field, or the reference just beneath it to the bookmarklet...
It's a web-app, there's nothing to download. :)
-
you can also save the bookmarklet in your bookmarks/favourites for faster access.

Thanks to all! I had never had an occasion to use a web-app. and hence was not familiar with such.

Just tried out PrintWhatYouLike to print this article for school (http://www.parenthood.com/article-topics/article-topics.php?Article_ID=3366) and the results were terrible.
First attempt: Apostrophes and other symbols didn't display properly. And the entire first page was almost completely blank.
Second Attempt: Symbols still not displaying properly. Got first page working, but the article width is limited to about half the physical page width. Is there any way to remove that stupid width limitation?
-
I just tried, it doesnt seem to do those special characters well, or at all really. I got it to full width by making sure all the bits around it were removed, then I selected it all and clicked the expand button. and this is the result
-
I got it to go to the full width of the page by isolating the section it was in. I actually needed to do it twice because there were two embedded sections. However, I too had weird characters replacing some of the text.

+1 for Aardvark - printwhatyoulike can't cope with the UK rail enquiries website (http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/) whereas Aardvark breezes through it

Can you apply Aardvark to the trains?

Have you looked at/tried GreenPrint? (http://www.printgreener.com/)

Weird. I tried so many times clicking "expand" and it never worked.
