Title: All you'll ever need is found in QBASIC
Post by: zridling on July 26, 2005, 08:52 PM
Whatever the latest programming language is of the day, all you ever need* is QBasic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qbasic). If you can't do it in QBasic, then why bother!

*A nod to all those people who gripe that PhotoshopCS2/8 doesn't run on their Windows95 systems.

I'm still hoping that PL/I (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PL/I) makes a serious comeback.

Damnit, I took Fortran in my first year of college — in 1980! — and I still say punch cards are the way to go. That course convinced me that I wanted nothing to do with computers. We actually turned in our punch cards to be compiled and graded. I'll never forget Apu Nahasapeemapetilon's doctoral dissertation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apu_Nahasapeemapetilon) that Bart ruined!
