Description
I created AudioMarker by simply being a master of procrastination.  I got into learning Italian around November 2017 and me being me, decided to create some tools to help me (and subsequently spent weeks doing that instead of actually learning the language).  AudioMarker came out of the procrastination fire pit!.

This software is designed to help those who use Audio learning tools (Things like Pimsleur) keep track of their learning progress and make lists of Native/Foreign words and phrases they have learned during their journey.

Features

    - Please Note:  When opening XLS files exported by AudioMarker, your spreadsheet software will ask you to choose the "separation method" - simply choose "tab" and it will all work smoothly from there.

Usage
Installation
Unzip to a folder you want to store it in.
Run: AudioMarker.exe

Using the Application
Because I designed this as a learning tool, every feature within AudioMarker has "Hover-Over" tooltips, which means anything you're not sure of, just simply hover over it and you will get handy little information tidbits about what things do!

Uninstallation
Delete the folder with AudioMarker stuff in it.

Tips
None as yet.

Known Issues
Audio files MUST be reloaded into the software after opening.  (On my "to fix" list).
Currently, you can only load one "set" of audio files at a time.  (You can load as many as you want, so long as you do them at the same time).  If you try to load more after an initial import, it will overwrite the current file list. (I am going to fix this).
Translation list will add a random empty line at the end of the imported list.  I have absolutely no idea why it does this.  It causes 0 problems though so it's pretty much at the bottom of the "fix this" list.

Yeah I think I'm going to make everything able to be resized by the user so you can choose how big you want each area tbh.  At the moment it is just based on what I needed (when it was just for me), plus the top right logo area (which now I think about it, takes up FAR too much space and could be better used for other things)

It just occurred to me that I inadvertently bundled images of countries flags within the ZIP.  These files are not required anymore (They were for a feature I decided was utterly useless and subsequently removed) and will be removed on the next upload.  If you don't want them, they are safe to delete (they also account for about half the total file size).

The folder is called "flags", which can be deleted entirely.

If anybody has the faintest clue how the f**k to get that cloud player to actually WORK [actually play the audio] (C#, Cef.Sharp: Visual Studio Winforms)...I will love you forever.

Update:
Download moved to Google Drive due to increased file size (owing to Cef.Sharp inflating the number of files contained within the app).

It's not fully functional yet (I somehow forgot to actually include the ability to save/load those lists.  I'll be adding a list of learning resources at some stage - I'm considering how to do this properly though as there are so many languages and all my current lists are 100% based on Italian stuff lol.  Perhaps I should provide one list (Italian) and just allow people to share their own somehow.  Not sure yet.

OK, Next version has Google and DeepL translations built into the main screen of the software.  At the moment, these tabs take a few seconds to activate but once they have been loaded, they are lightning fast.  I'm trying to speed up the initial loading (or make it obvious it's actually doing something) - hopefully, I'll have that done by the next update.

in the Insert .. phrase fields, I cannot:
# cut or paste using the usual shortcuts
# select all using Ctrl+A (I can use Shift+Hme from end of phrase, so not really bothered by this)

Any chance you could get #1 there working?

As it turns out...it's refusing to work...this should be simple...But...annoyingly...when I get it working in one of the boxes...the other one stops working....give me a little while with this and I'll have it working by next release. :)

Feature Changes:  Notepad is now a full-popout instead of embedded in the main window.  NB: Notepad does not currently support any of the menu options (save/open and such) - this will be enabled in the next update.

Bug Fixes:  YouTube Popout no longer causes AM to crash | Cut/Copy/Paste/Select All (+ Shortcuts) now work in "Enter words" text boxes.

it only lists up to version 4.0

I'm not sure that it WOULD be a .NET issue though as I haven't actually changed anything (that I know of) that would affect it.  In the previous versions, did you manage to load the Google/DeepL translation tabs? (The only things I know of that would potentially be the cause) - I mainly ask because I changed the order of the tabs and Google Translate now opens as the default tab, rather than the (now moved) Notepad.

Further to the above:

Mouser just checked it in a VM and it stated he needs .NET 4.6.1, so it's looking like that may be the issue - He's going to update .NET now and I'll update this once he has/checked if it worked. :)

OK, Mouser updated to the .NET that AM needs and it loaded fine.

@tomos Can you try extract AM into a completely new folder where there are no previous files and let me know if it works for you then?  If not, the only thing I can think of is that something on your side is messing with AM and causing it not to load (possibly that weird setup you have with .NET there).

It's very odd because the only things that I really changed in this version (from the previous) were:

• Added saveFileDialog to HTML_Export function
• Moved Notepad to its own window
• Moved Google Translate to default window
• Added SelectAll/Cut/Copy/Paste to nativeText and foreignText textBoxes

So...I can't honestly figure out what could have possibly changed to cause it to crash on your system.  Mouser suggested it may be a missing file, but as it works fine for him, I don't see how it could be that.

OK, I just downloaded AM onto another laptop, extracted it into its own folder (as you would do) and ran AudioMarker.exe - absolutely 0 problems, ran straight away.  I can only honestly think the fact tomos has updated .NET and it's not showing properly on his system could be the possible cause.

OK, I just downloaded AM onto another laptop, extracted it into its own folder (as you would do) and ran AudioMarker.exe - absolutely 0 problems, ran straight away.  I can only honestly think the fact tomos has updated .NET and it's not showing properly on his system could be the possible cause.

nope, and to be honest I didn't expect it to have the correct .NET either lol. It was my mrs's laptop and she has 0 device tools installed on it.

Next update contains no major new features but does fix a few things:

• Fixed notepad not having any shortcuts/save/open/new functions.
• Main window now actually notices if you make changes to your word list and will warn you if you haven't saved your list before exiting the application (so you don't lose any work)

• Trimmed a huge amount of code that wasn't being used, so the application now starts up a lot faster than it did before (for me at least).

Probably gonna add some more stuff before releasing this version - if anybody has any feature requests for the next update, now is the time to let me know :D

Issue has been resolved - turned out Chromium wanted some DLLs I didn't bundle, and wouldn't cause an issue for anybody who happened to have them (other stuff may have installed them for people) - I will be bundling those DLLs with AudioMarker from now on so we won't run into this again!

Well hopefully now I spent the majority of yesterday adding a crap load of code purely to log any possible errors it runs into, next time I will get something far less vague and be able to work out what's going on without pulling my hair out lol.  It's also unlikely I'll be using any more 3rd party dependencies after this one :D

Rather than have long audio file(s), I have very short individual audio files for single words and phrases. I imported about 20 or so files.
I'm having difficulty getting the audio set up ... the only way I seem to be able to get the name of the audio file into the list under "File" is by typing it, and typing the time as 00:00. This can't be right because having done that, if I click on the what looks like a play button at left of the list, nothing happens.

Would it be possible to be able to highlight a media file from the "import media" list and get it entered into the "main" list, with the track time (which I assume is the start time, not duration) set to 00:00 automatically...sort of drag and drop?

Maybe this stuffs up the direction in which you're trying to proceed, in which case, no problem. My usage is as a vocab learner, with emphasis on the sound of individual words (Vietnamese - getting tones right critical)

Ahh...I see what you mean.  AM only fills in the track and time info when you have a track playing.  This is purely because it needs a track to be playing in order to know what you want to add, and the time to add to it.  The "Arrow" you mention, isn't anything I have coded myself - it's just a part of the dataGrid you see the info in - that arrow simply selects the line (think of it basically like an Excel file) - It's not a play button  :P  There is no way (at least...none that I know of) to turn that into a play button.  I'd be happy to look though.

I'm actually coding on AM in my spare time as I am having to focus on jobs that are putting money in my pocket (a man has to eat) - so I can't promise any sort of timeline, but I can promise that I will look into it as soon as I can!
