Title: Show us your (physical) desktop
Post by: f0dder on September 16, 2006, 11:19 AM
Couldn't find a similar thread with the search feature, nor the first five pages of topics here in Living Room, so I decided to make a new thread. Here goes! :) (oh, theres's another thread (https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=4782.0) alright, but not about physical desktop).

Two 17" TFTs running 1280x1024 - an acer al1722 and an al1715. The thing in the back is a

Ti-83 calculator, 18-in-1 card reader and 3-port USB hub, 80gig seagate, icybox usb2/firewire enclosure with 120gig disk, K750i cellphone ontop of a VIM "cheat sheet", a box of CD-Rs and a box of DVD-Rs.

On top of the workstation to the left is a (defunct :( ) netgear wlan access point, and ontop of the testbox on thje right is a ZyXEL ADSL modem/router and an 8port 100mbit switch.

The machines... ASUS A8N SLI Premium (for stability & passively cooled chipset, not for SLI), AMD64x2 4400/2.21GHz, 4x512MB Corsair ram, Plextor PX-716A DVD burner, liteon SHD-16P1S DVD reader, 2x160gb maxtor sata in raid/mirror + a 80gig maxtor ide for "scratch" use, GeForce6600/256 PCI-e.

The test-machine is a P2-MMX@350MHz with 64 megs of ram, usually a voodoo3 PCI (but atm "whatever" I had lying around), Intel eepro 100 (with flashable rom!), a promise fasttrack tx133 to support large drives, and two drive bays. Machine is pretty defunct at the moment, though :(

WOW! You have some cluttered desks around here. The most intriguing is mouser's one. So clean, both the computer and the desk... for a genious coder I was expecting something along the Enterprise and the Millennium Falcom combined ;D. And a round desk! Does it feel that comfortable? I always thought that round tables were a pain to use with computers...

Sorry I can't show you mine, but unfortunately I don't have a digital camera at hand (or a good mobile phone)...

Well... I don't have a decent camera. But i do have my crappy phone.

Here are some images:

My main desk, where i only have the essential stuff: computer, second monitor, keyboard and mouse, some paper for school work, my GTD (non-patented) system, some writing material, the school timetable and a clock. (i also have a cool picture of me in disneyland, on the second monitor. that's not essential, but it's pretty cool :P)
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

My small table, where i dump stuff that i don't feel like organizing, and the stuff i grab when i leave home (keys, cell phone, school stuff, etc).
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

My second desk, where, right now, i only have blank paper sheets and some important documents at the bottom, and on top of it, the shelves where i put the daily annotations i take in class. (yep, i feel pretty good with myself knowing that i own an almost empty desk :P)
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Sorry for the bad pictures but.. they're better than nothing, right? :P

hehe, good to see where gridmove and dialogmove were created, jgpaiva. i like your emtpy shelves, very zen like.

so far, i have to agree that mouser's desk looks the most inviting to sit at (maybe it's just the lighting scheme in the photo). i'm wondering if being messy leads to distraction - and procrastination. hey, where did you get that cool wallpaper from - i'd sure like to have something like that  ;)

i think i'm going to put 'create new working environment' down on my 'will-do' list. tidy desk, tidy brain, tidy life, nirvana.

It's interesting to see that some of you have very poor arm support! - ideally you should be able to rest your forearm on your table while typing, to avoid too much strain. I know it certainly matters to me, with all those hours I spend (or at least, used to spend) in front of the computer :-[

That's true, it's one of the things that most worries me. With my previous chair, i had several problems with that, my wrist was aching lots of times. But now, i have arm support on my chair! :D

Here the home system.

This however is my alter

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Its a reasonably decent Dual Core Athlon x64 3800, with 1Gb ram and Radeon X800 PIC Express graphics card. Not top of the range but it serves my purposes with having cost an arm and a leg. The monitor on the left is a Philips and has a really annoy in flicker problem if you move dark windows around the screen, Or if you scroll text :( . The one on the right is a Sony with X-black and really is my pride and joy, have never regretted buying it.

It's interesting to see how many other dual screen setups we have here, I don't think I could go back to living without it.

I'm very proud i finally managed to find the right chair, it was definitelly a huge difference in comfort. I think it's a good investiment since i spend almost my whole day sitting on it. My last one caused me both back and wrist problems. Remember: health doesn't have a price ;)

Funny I never made the connection with it looking like a Devil head. One thing about that I really disliked was that if you have the box on the floor the power button is just low enough that you can easily clip it with a chair wheel or your foot shutting the pc down. That said at least it wasn't the reset button you could accidently hit, that could really mess things up.

I have a decent chair, with good arm support. Unfortunately, the arm support is not exactly flexible and I can't sit in relaxing position when I'm doing something trivial (like posting this text ;D). I've got to change the desk to something bigger to better accommodate the computer. I also thought about the two monitor system. Does it really make a difference?

Oh yes!

I'd much rather have two monitors than one big. Things like maximizing your IDE on one monitor, and having other stuff (instant messaging, programming reference, ...) on the second is invaluable. It's also pretty nice when gaming, I can have fullscreen game on main monitor, and IM on the other.
Title: Re: Show us your (physical) desktop
Post by: mouser on September 21, 2006, 06:25 AM
agreed, two monitors really does make a difference.  it lets you multitask in a nice way; maximized apps stay on their current monitor so its easy to keep things seperated.

Hummm, I'll take a look at it when I change the computer (hopefully before Christmas), but I don't know if I have enough money for two monitors (I wanted to buy a decent computer, with ALL decent components, not like this one, with bad speakers, average soundcard...). Bah, I also can buy the 2nd monitor later :)
Title: Re: Show us your (physical) desktop
Post by: f0dder on September 21, 2006, 06:37 AM
Just make sure that you get a decent 17" TFT and a graphics card with two output (preferably both DVI).
Title: Re: Show us your (physical) desktop
Post by: Lashiec on September 21, 2006, 06:44 AM
I planned to get a 19" one. At first I wanted a CRT, because I had bad experiences with my friends' TFTs, but they were generic screens, and early models as well, with lots of flickering and other bad things produced by their high response time. But nowadays, things have changed a bit. I saw a 19" ViewSonic screen and it looked quite good, so I'd probably go for that one (or maybe a LG). As for the graphics card, I plan to get a Radeon X800. It's not exactly using cutting edge technology, but for my games and the different emulators I use, it's more than enough.

agreed, two monitors really does make a difference.

I've got to say that it's the best thing I've ever done was to let the fellow I buy my computers from to talk me into buying two monitors: they're Samsung 17" 173plus SyncMasters.

His argument was that you get much more real estate for the dollar with 2 17" monitors than one huge monitor: that works well for me (not so good for movies).

Next best thing would be three (or four: but that would be getting greedy  ;))

I'd actually prefer my 2x17" TFT to the Athens... I don't need that much screen real estate since I'm not a stock broker :). Actually, I don't think I'd trade these for anything else, since they fit my needs (and desktop ;)) perfectly.

I wouldn't mind, however, a 42" HD-ready TV ;)

going back in time a bit:
my chair is horrible, and i've been on the hunt for a proper chair for a while, but haven't found an acceptable one in my price range.
I was using a gymnastic ball there for a while
I'm going to go back to it when I get a floor ring for under it to stop it rolling  ;D

pros:
you sit really straight (its very good for your back)
cheap  :) (I was looking at @ chair/stool for €400 & it was talking about its advantages over a gymball which got me thinking - apart from preffering to have a holiday to a €400 stool)
you actually get to exercise while you sit - (it can almost be a bit of a strain at the beginning ..)

cons:
looks ?
you got to cover it with something or it can get kindof sweaty!
whatever you cover it with usually falls off when you stand up
cant think of any other ..

ps I can post a pic of gymball - wouldnt go to the bother for my computer equipment ...  :D

re typing
I read somewhere the best way is to hold the wrists higher than the keyboard (for which you'ld need the elbows at least as high or higher) so that the wrists arent bent much - especially not upwards. Dont know if thats the case ..
I dont type that much but am using the keyboard constantly for shortcuts and the mouse with other hand so I do end up leaning on edge of desk - from experience i can tell you that's not so good!
Title: Re: Show us your (physical) desktop

We've got a few gymballs at work, pretty nice to use now and then, but I generally prefer a chair so I can sit relaxed & comfy. But changing between chair, gymball and standing up is pretty nice at work...
Title: Re: Show us your (physical) desktop
Post by: thunder7 on October 10, 2006, 02:26 PM
Yeah the chair I have also sucks. However My bed is right in behind it so if I have to lay down I can. (I have to force myself to sit (with no back on the chair) other wise I will loose what muscal mass I have in my back).

I would like to have a lazy boy for a chair, however then I would never want to walk, and once you loose the ability to walk and have to re learn it sucks!!! :(

I could though if I had the money (donations are being accepted) for new montiors 42" HD. I could use them.

For some odd reasons I run out of desktop quick.

You are not supposed to use a ring to keep it from rolling. Proper posture will keep the ball in place, as it should.

Another pro:

You can't fall asleep at your pc...or you end up on the floor really quick.   ;D

and as far as a cover, you can buy a large piece of stretch terry from a fabric store and tie it around the ball, matching opposite corners on a diagonal...that should work. Just make sure you put the knots to the side and not the bottom where the ball touches the floor...or where you sit.

My daughter used one of those huge balls you can win at a carnival as a desk chair for about 3 years, till it finally deflated. She could get away with that because she's like a feather...under 100 lbs. And it was all pink & swirly looking...matched her room quite nicely.

By the way, you should position your keeberd (hm, that was supposed to be "keyboard" :-s) further towards the wall, so you can rest your arms on the table...

Well... There are 2 reasons i chose this one:
as i have a laptop, i can't have more than one external monitor and
i prefer having an horizontally large screen to be able to see movies :) (of course it is a bit worse for work, though. i guess one of those that can rotate would be the best solution)

By the way, you should position your keeberd (hm, that was supposed to be "keyboard" :-s) further towards the wall, so you can rest your arms on the table...
maybe you should get yourself a new keeberd, that one doesn't look too good :P
You're right, the keyboard can't be that close to the edge, but that was a photo of the first day i had the screen. I'm now thinking about swithing places between the screen and the laptop, as the screen might be a bit too close to my eyes, right now.

So, here's the way i decided to keep it.
As you can see, the keyboard is a bit more away from me and with a better alignment. i decided to keep the big screen in my front, and brought back the picture that was on top of the other screen. as it can't be on top of the screen now, it's on the desk ;)
Also notice the 2 white dots (lame cell phone camera!) are my 2 DC mugs :D

PS: what f0dder mentioned got me wondering... There isn't any way to transform one VGA out into 2, is there? (i don't mean like a VGA splitter which would give the both images on the 2 sides, i mean as usb hubs, which give you an extra usb port)

Ooh, joy- I get to show off my new computer setup :D

Basically I have 2 3 desktops (computers), hooked to ONE monitor (old desktop = VGA, new (Gaming) desktop = DVI)

The desktop on the left is my new gamer, an eMachines (yes, I am able to run Xbox 360 type games on an eMachines...) and the one on the right is my working/guest computer/outside world communications computer. The third PC is a WIP that is basically doomed to be taken apart, but atm it is still in one piece, begging for RAM and a HD.

The keyboard/mouse setup is...uhh...uhh...well......it speaks for itself :P

and I have yet to put the new computer speakers into the old computer *adds to list*

I have my Linksys Wireless WRT300N (Draft N) router up atop my computer cabinent, now home to my Xbox/PS2/TV/random stuff I will find in 10 years (dead bodies of visitors, etc ;D)

As far as back/wrist stuff goes...my chair offers none of either, and is broken (I am doomed to become a cube, smashed under the chair yelling for help ;D)

For those of you with broadband, I am (right now) uploading a vid of it to YouTube. IMO, better then the pictures. I will edit this post when it is done.
Here is the link, 43 seconds, so not a big download :)

Nudone, my understanding is that 16 core processors are already in R&D and 100 Core processors are in the planning stages. Mine has a total of 32 cores  So I'm guessing you will see the same power in a single box in less than 5 years, The design that it uses has been around for a long time, the multi-thousand CPU system used to crack DES encryption is the same basic design - and that machine would be somewhere around 1000 times faster and that was back in the mid 90's - The basic layout was developed by the IBM and the NSA back in the 70's. The Problem, I see is the people at the top of the food chains being ultra greedy to the point where DRM is being built into hardware  I see a battle coming and its a winner takes all battle. The freedom of information - or the total lock-down of information, you cant control the internet obviously, so the only way to control copyrights completely is to control all the hardware completely. Steps are already being taken in that direction. But every major Hollywood meeting I go to is the same thing - PLUG THAT HOLE! (The Analog hole) They know that if you can hear it or see it, you can record it and copy it and this is what they want to stop. Macrovision Inc (Who most people are not aware own the "Realtek" sound codecs that most sound onboard mobos use) has a feature that they may start to put in the audio tracks of films - Hiss - but its in a pattern - during a quiet part of the film you can hear it. But the idea is to make it so that camcorders and audio recorders and all other major devices that hear this hiss will refuse to record. So forget recording your kids birthday party if they are watching "Tomb Raider" within earshot. Apparently their rights are "more equal" than yours. The technology will grow fast, but unless we stop all this DRM stuff cold by refusing to buy products with it you may not want one of those machines when they do hit the shelves.
Peace out 8)

Yeah, but in 5 years you'll be running a computer with 320 cores ;D

Macrovison owns Realtek? Or do Macrovision develop the software used by Realtek chips? *Hugs his Analog Devices chip*

(Hollywood meetings... I can hear the forum rumbling... Who will be this TOOWILD guy? :D)

Grmbl, they're going to add Macrovision to sound now as well?

It really makes me wonder, they should've realized that Macrovision on video has not stopped a single pirate, and only makes fair use for the end-user harder. Why the bloody fsck can't the media industry wake up and smell the coffee?

Sure thing, they're greedy... but you don't have to be an ignorant stupid dumbfsck just because you're greedy! (I'm a prime example of that :p)

Scancode:  Looks alot like my computer room, only more domestics and not quite enough opened up hardware  :P .  Don't know if it is good or bad, but since I moved into my mom's house to take care of her, I never got my computer room setup again.  She passed away 6 months after we moved in, and that was about 7 months ago, so I guess it has been about a year since I had that.  Since then I have been stuck (lucky enough, depending on your outlook) to have a laptop that works on the kitchen table when we don't eat there.  :D  If it weren't for that, I would have posted a picture just so you don't feel so bad.

Title: Re: Show us your (physical) desktop
Post by: ak_ on May 18, 2008, 07:37 PM
Thank you :) It was a little experiment, i was looking for a more distorted, Picasso-esque effect by chosing different angles for every photo and stitching em together. It's kinda working on the keyboard but not really on the rest of the picture so maybe i need to be more radical with the angles :) I'll keep trying. The funny fact is that i can almost simulate different points of view by changing some parameters.

Anyway, my screensaver is Fliqlo (http://www.9031.com/downloads/screensavers.html).

Four monitors, whoa :o :o :o

There's a big problem with your workspace though, mouser - you've got virtually no arm resting place with that desk. Oh, and if that's an air conditioner to the left, it's probably not the smartest place to place the desk, easy to catch a cold if you sit near one of those things for longer periods.

I think a really cool wallpaper would be a nice scene with cody on a road.
cody would start out at the very far left side of the road with sun rising in the morning and would gradually make his way to the right hand side of the screen at the end of the day as the sun goes down.  :)

I can't help myself, but when speaking about tidying up the workplace, I always recall my favorite quote from Kurt Vonnegut's Slapstick:

Here is an anecdote about my brother, which, with minor variations, could be told truthfully about me:

Bernard worked for the General Electric Research Laboratory in Schenectady, New York, for a while, where he discovered that silver iodide could precipitate certain sorts of clouds as snow or rain. His laboratory was a sensational mess, however, where a clumsy stranger could die in a thousand different ways, depending on where he stumbled.

The company had a safety officer who nearly swooned when he saw this jungle of deadfalls and snares and hair-trigger booby traps. He bawled out my brother.

My brother said this to him, tapping his own forehead with his fingertips: "If you think this laboratory is bad, you should see what it's like in here."

Or is it one of those splitter dealies? I can't see mouser as a gamer needing 2 cards running SLI. But you never know (he isn't that great at fragging people in Sauerbraten, but I don't want to end up meeting him in COD4 and totally getting pwned & embarrassed by him either, so I'll keep quiet on the skills ;))

Also, updated image from me - this is where I live just about 18 hours a day (the other 6 are in the bed to the left, not pictured ;D)
(The computer has about 1/2cm clearance from the top of the case to the top of the desk area - it does get quite hot, and it all comes back out at me over the monitor)

I have 2 nvidia graphics cards, each with 2 DVI connectors.  I think its one GT8600 and one GT8800, all four running at 1600x1200 (no SLI or other special connection).  The monitors are all Samsung 204b 21" monitors (two of them are experiencing noticeable problems with areas of dead/miscolored pixels but otherwise i'm quite happy with).

As for game playing, the last game i played for more than an hour was GTAIII and the next one i play will be GTAIV.  It's hard for me to play a game for more than a few minutes without me wanting to go make my own game (which i don't have time for), so i stop and get back to coding, which is more satisfying.

I have 2 nvidia graphics cards, each with 2 DVI connectors.  I think its one GT8600 and one GT8800, all four running at 1600x1200 (no SLI or other special connection).

So, why the powerful video cards if not for gaming?

Most places will let you get a replacement monitor if there are more than 10 dead pixels. I'd look into it and get them replaced if possible!

I had already posted my desktop (https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=5301.msg37082#msg37082) at my home, but I'm now on exams, thus I'm at my parents'.
So, here's how my desk at my parents' looks.
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Notice that on the left there's more pink stuff and marker pens, because that's my sister's side at MY desk, she's been there for the past couple weeks, to study for her exams and easily ask for my help. My half goes up to the "distributed systems:concepts and design" book, which was the book I studied for yesterday's exam (which went pretty well :D) and I'll be packing somewhere soon ;)
Also interesting is that neither one of the laptops is the one I posted on the previous picture, since that one is now with Acer (and has been for the past 3 weeks) for the third time to replace the hdd with a new one (they keep sending it back with used disks, which I easily break in less than one week).

PS: You have a great taste for:) in computer mice, Carl! ;)

PS2: I thought you might like to see what's outside those 2 windows, so I posted a quick panorama view (courtesy of hugin (http://hugin.sourceforge.net/)!), attached to this post.

I could tell you how in 2 steps:

1. purchase a rubbermaid storage bin (http://rubbermaid.com/rubbermaid/product/product.jhtml?prodId=HPProd2936118)
2. put all the crap in the bin

Now, if/when you can't find something, check the bin.

As time goes on, the stuff you need most and have used recently, will be near the top, and all the old useless stuff will sink to the bottom.

For fun, clean out the bin, to the bottom, every 10 years. It will be like opening up a time capsule.  :D

Too many people playing! (*me-too mentality kicks in*)

Sorry about the lighting, putting on the room lights or using the flash was resulting in some serious glare crapification & it's too overcast outside (love it!) to get decent natural lighting.

Cheats used: I try and keep things organized so the desktop really is that clear at most times, I just removed a couple of seriously embarrassing books (Access '97, DOS 6.22  ;D) from the shelf, stuff long overdue - thank you, DC... inspirational as usual.  :)

Points of interest: There's a coffee mug in there somewhere that betrays my (caffeine) addiction, Goomba guarding my DVD spools.

I'd love to show people my 'high on grass' calendar but it's out of view.  :P

Thread undead!

A couple of these would be nice on the desktop. Just saw them favourably reviewed.

NEC MultiSync PA301W

30-inch LCD @ 2560×1600.
Holds and switches between multiple profiles; web, print, photo, video etc.
Onboard KVM and USB hub.

> US$2k
> US$2.5k with a calibration system included.

And, while we're here, any recent members want to post images of their desktops?  Feel free, the more the merrier!

Cleaned out my room a bit after helping a close friend move out of his parents house (and realizing how much of a packrat he is, and then in turn realizing how much I am as well) so I took some crappy cellphone pictures of my current setup now. It hasn't changed much unless you look for things (which if you want to do, last years pics are here (https://picasaweb.google.com/wreckedcarzz/2010ComputerPictures). Also, for the extra curious, 2009 images are available here (https://picasaweb.google.com/wreckedcarzz/2009ComputerPictures).

Noticeable changes from last year:
Spoiler
Server moved to ground, now 100% wireless (except power)
Gaming machine now using wireless network connection - only power, video, sound, keyboard+mouse
New, HD screen
Routers moved to top of computer cabinet for better signal (not visible)
Printer now on top of stand atop parts cabinet; laptops sit below
Alarm clock/iPod dock/FM radio is now being used instead of collecting dust!

Here are today's pictures (https://picasaweb.google.com/wreckedcarzz/2011ComputerPictures?authkey=Gv1sRgCNLfsrHkgICwzgE)

In updated pics (from left to right): 19" HP LCD monitor (for sale, actually), 4th gen iPod Nano hooked to my Jenson dock/radio/alarm clock, my gaming rig (now with liquid cooling! :D), the new monitor for said gaming rig (ASUS VH242H 23.6") with 5.1 setup, then on the ground is my personal "server" for file storage and tedious, low-priority tasks (set it and forget it), then my new iBook G4 sitting next to my ASUS 1005HA-P.

EDIT: The black Compaq laptop from '09 is not lost: it sits atop the server right now

Directly behind where I was taking these pictures are 3 more almost-working (no OS) computers, along with a 17" Dell CRT monitor (also trying to sell, ugh) and a somewhat frightening amount of cables that I have yet to put away properly (that is what the cabinet is for that the iBook/netbook are sitting on).

Not the most ergonomic space... Mostly I have been working from my client's offices or from cafés and so haven't had a work-space at home, this setup is new. It's a corner of my 6 year old daughters room (she has moved her bed into her borthers room) the screen is one I found in the basement (must be ten years old) and the Macbook is on a notebook stand.

Interesting looking back through this thread - as it goes back six years - I wonder how different our desktops are now compared to back then.

Here's my 2012 setup (there's a large Wacom Cintiq screen and machine/s somewhere else in the room under a load of crap). No doubt, this will seem quite inappropriate in another six years time; I suspect we'll all have giant fold out tablet displays running Micrsoft Metro XL.

What's all the gradated colour lists on the left screen - if that's not a personal question!! - I mean what's making the lists :-[
Title: Re: Show us your (physical) desktop
Post by: nudone on March 22, 2012, 10:39 AM
I mean what's making the lists

I cheated. The colour blocks are just part of the background, i.e. the wallpaper image. The colours are the (x11) CSS3 colour names - something I just thought might be handy to use so I don't have to remember things like #DCDCDC when editing CSS; instead I'll just look at the colour names and type gainsboro (which is #DCDCDC).

Source here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_colors (did a screengrab and arranged things in Photoshop to create the wallpaper).

@c.gingerich, did you edit "my" photo and gave it extra light? The couch on your photo seems brighter than on my version.

I envy you the huge monitor. I am still on 1024x768 :-(

I have no understanding of what a boogie board is.

-oh yes, now I recognize what they are. We had them when I was a child, some 40 years ago. Only, back then they weren't electronic.

I finally got around to taking pictures after my last build...

I'll also attach one of them here.

The two monitors on the left are the new pc. The one to the right of those is the old one... and the other one is my mac. Oh.. the floating one is my ipad.

I use multiplicity to control my old PC, though I have a bluetooth Logitech k811 attached to it, my mac, and my ipad.

Here are some photos of when I was trying out a 4K 39" TV as my monitor (https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=37160.msg355477#msg355477):

39" TV with my now-dwarfed 26" monitor peeking over the top.

39" TV with the 26" hiding behind.

As stated in the thread linked above, I felt that the 39" TV was just too huge to be conducive to working at my PC and I ended up returning it.

You can always tell the old school "makers" from these photos -- a soldering iron is never far from view

questions questions

Do you know that feeling: You've read the beginning of a story, but then it wasn't finished. And now you're sitting there wondering, what happened next? This is how I have it with the following three stories:

The first story is scattered all over the thread, but you can easily find it in the "Show Posts" for our member JennyB:
https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;area=showposts;u=55110

Here's mine. Not exactly kick-ass, but it does me!  :-*

JennyB, you inherited your mom's big house, but were afraid time & maintenance would eat the worth.
So, how did it all go? Did you leave it all  and biked out of Ulster, or such?

-------------

Sorry but I didn't realise your life was so grim ...
Therapy needed - we have to get you out of that closet!  :-* :-* :-*

Here's a great idea. Sometimes the best therapy is to get busy! Check out the following for a "terrific" DIY home office project:
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=xP3xiLKJ9_4

already I'm eager to watch such a video. Then a couple of people also spoke warmly about it: "LoL 40hz! That's a cool video!" "funny and... "educational" as ever"

Only, it isn't there! Not to me, anyway.
Please?

---------------

I have a new desk arriving soon, and it will take about 10 hrs of work to put it together. And I am going to have to dismantle and dispose of the old desk.
When all that is complete and I have everything all set up, new pics will be uploaded.  :D

In my head the desktop was too big for the door; so it never arrived the room. Thinking about it, this story is quite old, so maybe she forgot the pictures in the photographic developer fluid?
Any way, I'm curious to see that new desktop!

But it's not the next one (that one belongs to JennyB). I have tried to "Modify message", but still I don't understand why Jenny's picture is displayed twice!?

Considering her last active was in 2015, I think you're going to have to be content with not knowing the story.  ;D

It is displayed twice because it displays it in the quote of her post, and you also have it attached to your post. Just modify your message and uncheck the attachment box to get rid of the second one.

Just found a PM from Curt in my spam folder, so I'm dropping back in for a minute. It's a bit weird seeing a large part of my life scroll before my eyes in the form of past posts - reminds me of some good conversations.

I'm still in the old house. The money's lasting a bit better than I expected - it's still (just) above the level where I can claim Income support. I've got into writing - poems and short stories, with a novel in the works. I've done quite a few public readings now with Fermanagh Writers (http://www.fermanaghwriters.com), and edit Corncrake (http://www.corncrakemagazine.com), a local Arts magazine There's no money in that, but I do earn a little from the odd editing job.

I was sixty last June, and not cycling quite as much, but still hosting international tourists. If cycletouring is your thing, and you're headed to Ireland, you'll find me on Warmshowers (https://www.warmshowers.org).

What else?

I can't remember if I ever mentioned it, but I'm trans. I transitioned officially in 2000. I was quite difficult at time still living in the village where I grew up, pu Mum was my greatest ally.

That all I can think of for now.

Great to hear from you again, Curt.  How have things been for you?  :P
