I like this idea: it's a iGoogle widget that keeps track of number of the days since you have performed some task.  You enter the name of the task and it keeps Track of the time automatically.

http://leancode.com/dayssince/

I do not use iGoogle, and I don't want to start.  Why not create an Autohotkey equivalent?

Hopefully the program will not take up too much processing power and memory.

Thanks! -Spanky

this would really be a nice tray utility -- i'm going to give people another week to write this and then i'll write it myself if no one steps up.

As I see it the interface could be really simple: Imagine a tray-based utility where user can configure as many "items" to list as they way.  when you right-click you see the list of items with the date listed for each one.  Click an item to update it's date to current date+time.

A coding snack is just the way we describe small programs that could be written in a day or two, rather than big giant projects.

So basically this section of the forum is where people post ideas/requests, and anyone who likes to program is invited to try coding the ideas.. so.. go for it!  Thmbsup

What exactly you mean by performing some task ? Do you mean an application , since last time it was launched ? or you mean task to be textual information for some personal work which has elapsed (on a configured date) and the application would display the duration since it elapsed ?

This would be a perfect program for someone to implement and submit to our GOE contest which is running through November: http://www.donationcoder....m/index.php?topic=10648.0

I'm going to give this one a try for the Get Organized Challenge...!

Unless someone else has already started of course, so if that's the case please let me know.

I got a better idea and am going for that! Sorry if I disappointed anyone...!

Did Renegade add this to his program? Did anybody decide to make this?

OK. I am going to attempt a coding marathon and see if I can whip this little ditty up by the deadline for the Getting Organized Programming Contest.

Anybody who has and things they would like to add to this little utility, go ahead an post to this thread now and if I can squeeze it in easily enough, it just might make it in. This includes any complimentary functionality you can think of. For example, I think that besides showing how many day *since* something, I will also show how many days *until* some date, like a project deadline. What else can you folks think of?

I checked out the igoogle widget: there is one click to reset a repeating task back to zero.  One functionality that might be useful is if your coding snack recorded previous values of such a repeated task and also save the data in some exportable format.  The igoogle widget hints at that with a hovering information function.
