You could try TextView (freeware) by Florian Balmer.

Also Lister, Total Commander's "F3 viewer," has been split out and offered as a freeware.

dopus does what most file managers do, but again its not what I need

it has the viewer pane thingie

hitting enter or delete in viewer pane types a newline or deletes, its not "viewer pane" this thing is called text editor!

moreover, when I select a file and I watch in the viewer that I want to delete it, and then I delete it, it doesnt go to the next file!!! it removes the focus!!!

Can you explain what problems you have with it? theres a back and forward button as well as a delete button in irfanview, and am using that you can change the font used to view the textfiles.

TextView does what I said above for dopus, plus it doesnt let me view the file with single click, it needs double clicking (shrug)
