Context Menu Editor?
« on: August 29, 2007, 03:55 PM »
Anyone know of a program to edit your context menu? There is one called Mmm+ (http://www.hace.us-inc.com/mmm.shtml) that is very good but it is working really bad together with Windows Vista.
Hope for some tips.

Hmmm...this isn't quite as nice as MMM+, but you can do some interesting things with it:

NirSoft has ShellMenuView http://www.nirsoft.n...shell_menu_view.html - this might do some of what you want, but it doesn't mention VIsta compatibility.

PC Magazine had a free utility for this, but it's not free anymore and it's too old to have been tested on Vista. But if you're a PC Mag subscriber you can still get it for free and it might be worth a try. It's called ContextEdit. (They also have ContextMenu Plus which is similar.)

StudioZai Menu Organizer is another alternative. I haven't tried it and am not sure how it works under Vista.

I use stardock's RightClick http://www.stardock....products/rightclick/ which works mostly for desktop content menu, and wirekeys http://www.wiredplan...n/wirekeys/about.php which can also kick in when there is text selected or over/in any application's menu.

Both are good but tend to overlap a bit and sometimes you dont get what you expect. or it could be me not spending the time to fine tune it.

OpenExpert version 1.40 (658 KB), tested for Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP, is available from http://www.baxbex.com/openexpert.html.  I don't know about Vista compatibility.

I use PCMags ContextEdit and Nirsoft's ShellExView and ShellMenuView.

If you are having a hard time finding ContextEdit, here is a link:
