bug reports
« on: September 12, 2005, 08:08 AM »
Hi,

first of all: thank you for this great program, I really love it!
The latest version does not save the windows size and position on exit - I start Screenshot Captor, maximize, close it, start it again - and it has the wrong (default) window size and position... :(

I'd be happy if you could fix that!

i certainly will fix that this weekend - no excuse for that; probably got messed up in the recent version when i got start-minimized behavior to work perfectly.  like stamping down bubbles under a rug, there always seems to be sideeffects :)

thanks for bug report, will be fixed next version (this coming weekend)

Thanks, I love software where the bugs are fixed fast :)
And I like http://fileforum.betanews.com/ - that's where I discovered your great program!

always nice to hear where people discovered us.
if you look around the forum you'll see that one of the best things about this forum/site is the interaction between users and coders; it's my favorite part, and i love hearing how i can improve the programs to make them work better for their users.

I like http://fileforum.betanews.com/ because you can rate and review programs there and also can read the feedback from others. Thanks to that I discovered GREAT programs like http://www.autohotkey.com - and you'll get an email when one of the programs you added to your list is updated (new beta or official release).

You are right, I like interaction too. Right now I'm helping 4 coders to beta-test their freeware and suggesting new features - expect more posts to come :)

I got the same bug in v2.00.10  :(

Do I need to do a clean installation? Where does your program hide its settings?

Hmm, seems not to be fixed in .11 though...

When you fix it, please also fix this:
  • when you rename a file in the left part of the window and hit enter the file will not longer be selected but the first file/folder in the save folder will

Thanks :)

i'm having trouble reproducing the problem - window position and size is saved in mine.

brothers - are your other options settings being saved?  if not, then the problem is that none of your options are being saved.
can you do some experimenting and report back?

bugs in v2.00.11
« Reply #9 on: September 25, 2005, 05:32 PM »
Sure that :)

I uninstalled it and also removed the settings before installing it again. It's working much better, the only bugs I see now are these:

  • when you rename a file in the left part of the window and hit enter the file will not longer be selected but the first file/folder in the save folder will - example: a) start SC b) capture 4 images c) in SC, click the third image and hit F2 to rename it d) rename it and hit ENTER e) now press the UP cursor because you want to rename the second file f) be surprised because the third file isn't active/highlighted anymore, but the first entry (parent folder in my case) is! (it should work exactly like in Windows Explorer or other programs IMHO)
  • the program seems to have problems with the the new, great Google Sidebar, which I placed at the right side of the screen (see example image: http://img162.images...ugwithsidebar3hy.png - the Windows taskbar sits on the left side of the screen btw). I started SC and saw it was partly laying over the Sidebar - I reduced the width to NOT have it over the Sidebar anymore, did quit SC and restarted it - and it had the same (too big) size (see example image)...

ok i see what you mean about after renaming  - i will try to fix.

as for google side bar -
if you make the screenshot captor window really small and close and restart - what happens?
is it ignoring all window size change completely? or is it something else going wrong?

This is strange: I just did what you suggested and NOW it does remember its size even when its bigger again!? So lets say it's fixed until it starts to act up again :)

One more thing though:
  • when you use the "start minimized" option and then right-click the tray icon to "exit" SC will not be closed quietly but the GUI will show up for a very short moment - maybe you can prevent this?

Great! Since there are different bugs discussed in here now would you perhaps change the subject of the original post? And/or should I post every bug in a new thread in the future?

i guess it might be easier to keep track of if each bug was in its own thread..
but then maybe we might have so many threads that the forum software would crash  :-[
