screen saver file association messed up
nite_monkey:
I've been recently getting a file association change alert for the screen saver (.scr) file extension.
screen saver file association messed up
I would like to know, why I am getting this, and what is trying to steal/change my screen saver file association. If you have any idea, please let me know, because until I hit yes, it will probably keep popping up, and it is getting annoying having that pop up like every five minutes.

the 1st question would be: did you installed anything? :) from the screenshot it looks like the parameter has been changed from "%1 /S %3" to "%1 /S". /S is probably stands for setup as when you right-click on a .SCR file & choose "configure"..
nite_monkey:
not that I know of, it might have to do with adware or something on my computer, because it started right after I got finished scanning and removing a couple of adware files.
PhilB66:
The "%1" /S value determines how Windows runs screensavers (.SCR files). If it "needs" to be opened with some other program, the value would look like this "%1" /S %*. The removal of adware/malware effected the change (which is good).
Here's a good read on this topic

ok, well I went ahead and let it keep the change, and I haven't had any problems so far, so I guess there wasn't anything bad hear, thanks for the fast replies guys.
