Vincent Flanders will take you on a humorous tour of all the things you shouldn't do when designing a page, and give you real life video examples of what he means, from all the bad websites he has visited.

He even provides checklists in case you are not sure if your site sucks.

as long as your site doesn't look like this: http://www.gratiz.nl/ then it should be not too bad But the site is good: it lists all kind of freebie trials/samples you can acquire by filling out forms mostly (well it did 4 years ago when i found it). It's in dutch but to appreciate the skillful appliance of the finer art of colors you don't need to read the text.

The truth is that a lot of very ugly sites actually WORK!

It's less about looks than it is about usability. That's the key. Looks are a HUGE bonus, but they don't make up for a site that isn't usable.

Not only does his site suck, but so do his videos.

He doesn't even really seem to point out the things that are bad. He just says stuff like "Whoa! Caps here, now caps in red, caps in green, some italics!"

Basically he's trying to make fun of other sites (that do indeed suck) but he sucks at doing even that.

I do share his hatred of 'mystery meat navigation', though.

And autoplaying sound and video files (why don't browsers have their very own mute button that will mute sounds only from the browser?).

Vista lets you adjust the volume on a per-application basis. I really liked that.
