Not if it's spread among several volunteers...
I have a feeling the idea has been discussed before and dismissed because it may send fickle new users packing? <- IIRC.

Actually, I did spot that post, but my google search didn't find any similar posts :)
So, having moderators vet first posts really wouldn't help much if all moderators are so easily fooled as I am :)
