Expand my desktop size above my maximum screen resolution?

Expand my desktop size above my maximum screen resolution?

There are plenty of virtual desktop programs that will give me hundreds of virtual desktops if I want. The problem is that all of them will have a size that is less or equal that the physical size of my LCD screen.
What I need is a virtual desktop that is larger than my LCD screen max resolution (1280x1024). I have been using this feature in Linux/UNIX with Xdesktop, but is there any app for WindowsXP that does the same job?

Cheers,  :)

Sometimes just setting the resolution higher than the display size will expand the desktop past the edges of the screen.

Look around the display properties for an option like "Don't show resolutions the monitor cannot display" and turn it off. I think it warns you that it might damage something or something, but I doubt it would. I'm no monitor expert though.

Thanks it worked!

Hi,

Let me know how can I do it by Xdesktop in Linux?
Did you mean X-Desktop or XenDesktop?

Thanks

I have the same problem in kde Linux. I don't find any options in xorg.conf to expand desktop size over maximum monitor resolution. Any Idea?

Cheers,  :)
