Xara Extreme Updated. Will People Purchase Upgrade?

(1/2) > >>

KenR:
Hi all.

I purchased Xara Extreme last year. The cost made it seem like a good deal, it seemed like a nice package, and I was looking for something that was a bit more friendly than Photoshop, which I was using at the time.

Now, a year or so later, they are back with an update that cost around as much as I paid for the software originally. Not that it matters, but I think that for whatever reason, I was under the impression at the time that updates were free.

At any rate, I was wondering if people planned to shell out $40-$50 for the upgrade. It seems excessive to me, particularly after the small amount of time, but I wanted to see what others thought.

Thanks, Ken

I made the mistake of purchasing Xara X1 last year. Now I can't get them to stop sending me junkmail. I don't know how many times I've supposedly unsubscribed from their mailing list.

Boo on Xara! I don't plan on buying from them again if only for that reason alone.

I have buy Xara X1 a few weeks ago and didn't get junk mail? (no, nor in my spam folder)
Maybe you have subscribed to an newsletter?

-- oh, wait, i've forgotten: i got mails from MAGIX after buying X1. But they are automatically in my spam folder 'cus of HTML formated. So no matter.

BTW: here is another thread about xara 3.2 https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=8835.0;topicseen

I'm still scratching my head why Linux users now get an open source version for free and there is no equivalent on other platforms?

 :tellme:

AbteriX:
The open source version for Linux is around there for a few years now.
Maybe they want to support the open source or the Linux motion/thought?

Not equivalent but there is Xara XS out there (Would be nice to have the X1 for free instead of XS)
