Higher Quality Youtube Tip
« on: February 10, 2009, 09:31:43 AM »
Found this gem in a youtube comment: append &fmt=18 to the url. It loads a high quality version (but even for videos that don't have the "watch in higher quality" link..)

compare
Regular: http://www.youtube.c.../watch?v=lBvaHZIrt0o
HQ: http://www.youtube.c...vaHZIrt0o&fmt=18

Good idea for a bookmarklet.

Oooh, I didn't know the "&fmt=18" worked for videos without the high-quality link - thanks for that snippet of info! :)

Sometimes the alternate format works also when YouTube tell that the video is no longer available; the HQ version may still be there and reachable!
