PC-Com, which is mentioned in FARR's help file, has been re-named Keybreeze.  Free for personal use, $14.95 (I think) for commercial use.

all in the help file already.
If you havent checked out the "Related Apps" section of the FARR help file, it's worth a look, i've listed dozens of similar apps that have come out since FARR's release in 2002.

The thing is for me FARR is so good there's no need to check out others.

Sorry, Mouser, I didn't page down far enough in the Help file page.  Both PC-Com and Keybreeze are there - of course, they changed their URL too.

I have been using FARR till yesterday. I have switched to Executor now. I feel it is faster and easier to set up (keywords). Of course, the functionality provided by FARR via plugins like GoogleSuggest is not present in Executor. But for now, Executor is okay for me. Anyone else here uses Executor? If so, please check this out.

I think it's probably true that FARR needs to make it easier to add new keywords.

I think so :-) the aliases is somehow hard to confige for me. BUT even with no configuration, FARR does everything i need. I just think maybe mouser should take some time write a quick tutorial (or video) to let more people know FARR.

absolutely 100% true -- i have plans to make a series of videos soon.

By the way, people don't realize that one of the reasons it's a bit harder to add keywords to FARR than it is in other programs is because FARR is designed to make it easy for people to share alias packs and update them, without risking overwriting their own aliases.  That's why there is all this business about having different alias files, etc.

Drag and drop from explorer or farr result window to farr window should create or open the alias window in my view. This should make it easy for many.

One other thing that could make farr useful is grouped results(docs, exe, ink, bat etc). At least there should be an option for it.

I think it's probably true that FARR needs to make it easier to add new keywords.

I started using Executor on my laptop. It is nice and has new some features Launchy was missing. But I would have no real reason to move to Executor. Mainly because Farr would let me see the file path, copy file path etc. These are very primitive features compared to rest of Farr stuff but they are soooooo helpful. Executor does not have that for example. Also Farr has very easy to use launch-toolbar!!

;D I think the final battle between launchers is who opens source first.

Currently I am still using Farr. Not perfect launcher I must say, but zippy enough.

Why would being open source be important to an application without it's own format, without any way to create data?

(Maybe the below should be in  a separate thread, but these things was discussed here so...)

Some small ideas on speeding up alias set up in FARR for users (I'm just brainstorming, not sure if all of them would work well together):

1. when opening options, let lists > aliases > myaliases.alias have focus
2. on the lists > aliases page, add a big button named "new alias" (or "make new alias")
3. also add that button to the options root view (the one which now is a large grey area with the text "choose one of the sub-pages...")
4. hide the text "test regular expression here:" and "regex parsed fields:" and their related input boxes until the user actually enters something into the "regular expression pattern" box. That would make the new alias screen less complex for a beginner (who probably will start out making non-regex aliases)
5. above the big bottom Result(s) input box, maybe add a dropdown that contains some common commands and also keeps a list of the special modifier the user has created. Selecting a command/modifier would insert it at the cursor position in the big box.
6. make the word "help" in "see help for more info" a link that opens the help file (the part of it describing alias creation).
7. maybe decrease the width of the "group alias name" box (smaller boxes makes the interface look less cluttered I think.
8. maybe make "Example" into a link that for each click cycles to another example that illustrates different types of result(s) commands.

How to post to Twitter from Executor
How to add a task to your RTM from Executor
How to easily access EverNote from Executor

Take Executor beyond application launching
Oh, now you accidentally posted to the wrong forum, this forum is about FARR  ;)

But speaking of Remember The Milk (to add some more off topic stuff to this thread), you'll soon be able to add tasks to RTM from within FARR, and much more.... If you don't mind downloading 6 megs of data you can check out a peek preview of what I'm working on here. Please ignore the ugly icons, they'll (have to) change.

This forum welcomes posts about ALL software and this thread is a good place for posting about executor.
I think it's important we try hard to not play favorites with DC software and take the attitude that different people will prefer different programs.  If you have a program you prefer to its DC equivalent, no need to be shy about it.  and there is much to be learned from talking about similar programs as well.

I prefer FARR to executor and all the others i tried before i got to FARR,
why do I prefer FARR?  As someone who is not a geeky type I like the fact that it is easy to use and the killer for me is that it uses much less memory than the others. The way i have FARR set up it sits in the tray and uses 2mb! executor uses 5.5
