I think the Office 2006
is the real deal here -

I dont know much about Word Processers but I know it the best one I could find at making Word.docs that can cleanly be read by Word
And it starts quickly...

PS Tom is right - Office 2006 is a great package. They'll probably offer you a killer deal on an upgrade to 2007 when it ships. Note that they have a presentations app (like powerpoint) to add to the mix for the 2007 release AND they've been promising a database component for some time so in the future SoftMaker/Ashampoo Office will be that much more complete.
