To see on the start page from "Today's Blog Column"
  if new comments are available
it would be nifty to see the count of this comments

the living room is fine for such posts.
i agree it would be nice, i'll pass this request along to the author of multiblog, the nifty moveable type addon we are using that shows all blog columns on that one page.  he is working on a new version that might support this (http://www.rayners.org/plugins/multiblog/).

the preview of the blog
is not formated (i.e. word wrap)
like i wrote into
