Will this plugin be updated to support Firefox 3 such that it can read the places.sqlite? hmm... another reason to hold back FF3. actually i've updated to FF3 on a test PC but haven't tried FarrFox yet. just curious, what happens if you try to run FarrFox with FF3?

There is a default bookmarks.html (showing the initial bookmarks) in the profile directory. The entries of this file are then shown in FarrFox. When exporting my bookmarks to this file FarrFox works perfectly. So, everytime I want FarrFox to have my current bookmarks I first have to export them and then wait one hour or use "ff `".

would be great if it could directly access FF3's bookmarks, *as well as* search all open tabs by name, and bring those up when matched maybe it needs a FF extension to be installed in order to expose these features? i swear one of these days, i'm gonna look into how to write a FF plugin... hopefully before FF6 comes out

Another vote to update FarrFox plugin to read native FF3 bookmarks . I haven't yet gotten mine to work as I'm using a custom profile folder which is not in %APPDATA% (i.e. documents and settings\username\application data). To read the places.sqlite you need the SQlite DLL: http://www.sqlite.org/sqlitedll-3_5_9.zip (needs only MSVCRT.DLL). It might actually be worthwhile doing an SQLite implementation for FarrFox to fix the hard/slow indexing issue. Up to mouser (and his free time) to decide.

By the way, as a workaround for those for which FarrFox can read the bookmarks.html file generated by FF3: This makes FF3 sync the places.sqlite bookmarks with the bookmarks.html: http://kb.mozillazine.org....bookmarks.autoExportHTMLIt creates/syncs the bookmarks.html file every time FF3 closes. I have around 500+ bookmarks and FF shutdown is still fast enough.

When exporting my bookmarks to this file FarrFox works perfectly. So, everytime I want FarrFox to have my current bookmarks I first have to export them and then wait one hour or use "ff `". That didn't work for me. It may be because my FF3 profile is outside %APPDATA% (see my posts above). I tried adding the profile folder and also the full path of the bookmarks.html file to the FarrFox' advanced options dialog, into "Custom bookmark file locations" and it still doesn't work ... . Any workarounds for this? EDIT: where can I download the FarrFox sources?

EDIT: where can I download the FarrFox sources? they are in the farr plugin sdk downloadBUT they haven't been updated with my latest yet; if you wait a few days i will add the most recent farrfox source to the sdk download.

I use Firefox 3 but I don't think that's the reason (I use the bookmarks.html). It must be something with the new version.

Version 1.08.01 is installed and "Search FireFox Bookmarks", "Include Folder Path in Titles", "Force Rescan Every Hour" are enabled, the other ones are disabled.
By the way: It's not clear whether to enter a directory or a file in "Custom bookmark file locations".
I tried both, adding the bookmarks.html and only the folder to that list of "Custom bookmark file locations" but it didn't change anything.

It seems like this breakage coincided with the FF upgrade to 2.0.0.15. Is everyone who is experiencing the problem on this version?

great. somehow the regular expression parsing library stopped working right -- i think i must have compiled with an older version when i moved the files, and it just didn't work right.
next step will be to parse the bookmarks in a separate thread so that there is no delay while the bookmarks are loading and refreshing.

Lifehacker posted about this tip for getting your FireFox 3 bookmarks exported in old format automatically which should make them available to the FarrFox plugin: http://www.hackcollege.co...okmarks-with-quicksilver/I'd love to hear if Firefox 3 users can get this tip to work with FarrFox. ps. A big thanks to Jim on the lifehacker comments for suggesting that this could be used with the FarrFox plugin for FARR, and not just for launchy.
