Do any of you customize/alter the Aliases that come with FARR?

(1/3) > >>

mouser:
I'm trying to figure out a good plan for updating the default aliases that come with FARR.
For example, if I figure out things to add to the search alias, or an improvement for the email alias.. I'm trying to figure out the way to do this without risking overwriting someone's custom aliases.
That's why I'm asking if anyone here modifies the aliases that come built into FARR.

One thing i might do is add an option in each alias like "READ ONLY" or "PROTECT" which would prevent you from modifying it and tell you that this alias may be overwritten on the next FARR update.

Thoughts?

jgpaiva:
I never change the default aliases.
I also think that it'd be overkill to add such an option. It'd only confuse people and add clutter.
On the other hand, you might make the default alias "protected", so that they can only be changed by the farr update.

Still, i think that the best option is to keep things as they are right now.

i usually alter the "define" and "search" aliases & add to them other search engines.. one of my source is here: https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=2907.0

mouser:
oh good, thanks for reminding me about that thread.  how about giving me your define and search aliases lanux so i can add them to farr.

lanux128:
the additional aliases are the ones i pick up from the threads i mentioned earlier, e.g. Answers.com, Britannica & others..

as for search folder aliases, you can add the 'Quick Launch' folder as some installers will place a shortcut there and myself throw a few shortcuts there.. :)

btw, a suggestion, how about aliases & search folders in a separate ini file?
