Can anyone recommend a good DVD to AVI program?

Please don't provide any that are trial versions, raw DVD rip, or any other type that don't work. Please recommend one that is different from the useless kinds that one finds on google search and cost money

Fairuse Wizard http://www.fairusewizard.com/

avi.NET http://www.dvduk.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/avinet.html

When I once did this I used

- DVD Decrypter (http://www.pctipp.ch/downloads/dl/24654.asp) to get the DVD contents from DVD to my HD

- AutoGK (http://www.autogk.me.uk/) to get AVI files from those (huge) files

For quality ripping:

You will have to perform a raw rip first but I've found the "DVD Decrypter --> AutoGK" method to be the only simple way that gives top notch quality output.

If the above method doesn't suit you, take a look at http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html which is getting immensely popular - even if you don't want it for the DVD ripping purpose it's worth checking out coz it converts pretty much any video format out there, including those found on portable gaming devices & cell phones.

I agree Doom9 is the place to look.

If you can grab a copy of SmartRipper you can rip DVDs to your hard disc and then find a VOD > AVI conversion program. There are lots out there (mostly not free) and the quality varies enormously.
