Request for 3rd party freeware tool configurations
« on: August 29, 2005, 06:20 AM »
I'm working on the new object drawing stuff for screenshot captor.. i think this is going to take screenshot captor to a whole new level.

I'd also really like to demonstrate the power of the 3rd party tool configuration system.
what i would love is some help finding freeware tools and configurations for them.

So far i have 2, color cop, a great color picker tool.
And the mini ftp upload tool by crono here on the forum.

Here is what i would love to add (preferably freeware)
tools and configurations for watermarking tools <-- this one especially
tools and configurations for steganography
more ftp tools.
an email tool.
picture frame tools.
special effects tools.
image optimization (ie png compression tool)

in case its not clear what im asking for, im asking for freeware programs that can be run from the commandline, plus the proper commandline configuration for using the tool from screenshotcaptor tool menu.

of a file in an e-mail message using the SMTP protocol.
Blat is useful for creating scripts where mail has to be sent automatically

NewMove  http://analogx.com/c...d/system/newmove.htm
Have you ever used a program that generated logs or something similar
into a single directory, and wished there was some way to move all the files
except the last days worth?
Or maybe you want to copy out only the newest three files, and just skip whatever
else is in the directory...
Please Note: This program is a commandline application.

Neomesh Image Console $ 19 - http://www.neomesh.c.../content/view/10/33/
Image Console is a command line image conversion utility.

More from this guy ==> http://home.tiscali....e/zoetrope/index.htm

Also nice for some uses GPaint is a program to create Google-like logos

Jdatestamp  - Date Stamper for Digital Pictures
http://jdatestamp.sourceforge.net/
Jdatestamp is a free command line program to imprint the date/time/comments
of a digital picture onto its JPEG image. It gets the date from the EXIF header

jdatestamp -datefmt "%a @m/@d/%y, @h:%M %pl" -outfile your_output_file.jpg

Picture-shark  is the first choice for people
who want to "stamp" visible logos or text on their image files.
Perhaps no commandline but worth to share here with you => http://www.picture-shark.com/

The EXIFutils are a set of command line utilities that extract,
add, remove, copy, and replace EXIF and IPTC data from JPEG, TIFF, and other image file formats
Shareware => http://www.hugsan.com/EXIFutils/

It's not easy to find when you search, only if you don't be realy on the search.

Hi,

you can do a lot of things with the commandline versions (http://www.imagemagi...mmand-line-tools.php) of Image Magick (http://www.imagemagi...org/script/index.php). This includes framing, combining, watermarking, set annotations, creating thumbnails and so on...

You can see some example commandline calls for annotating at http://www.cit.gu.ed...imagick6/annotating/
for more calls see http://www.cit.gu.ed...y/graphics/imagick6/

Also nice to demonstrate the IM power are the "Graphics from the command line" articles at IBM.com

http://www-128.ibm.c...r-lnxw15GraphicsLine

bye

great suggestions, keep 'em coming!

id definitely like to include some useful imagemagick scripts for users, to make it a little easier for them.
there is so much possible with imagemagick that it can be overwhelming.  might be nice to prepare some premade commandline tool configurations.

PS: Did you notice the license stuff on the ImagMagick website:

"ImageMagick is free software: it is delivered with full source code and can be freely used, copied, modified and distributed."

Sounds ideal !

Now all I have to do is try and get my rapidly aging brain back into programming mode ! (It's been a good few years now and it is difficult to know how to get started again in a Windows environment). Mouser, what do you use for coding?

i use a couple things, c++ builder for most of my big windows GUI tools.
Visual C++ for lean and mean windows stuff.
the free dev-c++ ide for building and testing crossplatform stuff.

i def recomment dev-c++ for people who want to play with c++.
though im not sure i would recommend c++.

c# and java are not bad to get started with if you are serious about coding.

Thanks for the ideas - I actually have copies of Visual Studio 6 Pro and C++ Builder Pro (an old version 4 copy).

The trouble I have is getting started - there just seems to be a much larger base of knowledge that you need these days - and it isn't made easier by all the acronyms everyone uses and never explains !!

I have been browsing round the ImageMagick site and came across this link:

http://software.news...sid=05/07/01/1959251

which may provide a quick way to produce animation output from Screenshot Captor if you put in a GIF timed capture sequence feature.

Free, open source, command line app for converting png to ico:

http://www.winterdra...de/freeware/png2ico/

Sample commands are included in the short readme.

It supports transparent backgrounds and multiple icon sizes per .ico file.

Not sure if that is what you meant.

I don't know how well just plopping a 7zip archive to the end of a picture would work for steganography but I remember this on the forum
https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=8614.0
Which uses 7zip and just adds the archive to the end of the image.
