WordWeb 5 Dictionary and Thesaurus released

(1/1)

Wordzilla:
A must have for word lovers. I have it installed on all my computers and it's really a great reference that comes in handy whenever I look up words. Good to know that the author, Antony Lewis, is still actively developing it, expanding the database and adding more features.

Get the freeware version here: http://wordweb.info/free

There's also an enhanced commercial version which sells for $29 but comes with some advanced features.

WORDWEB FREE* VERSION

WordWeb is a free English thesaurus and dictionary for Windows, and can be used to look up words from within almost any program in just one click. It works off-line, but can also look up words in web references such as the Wikipedia encyclopedia. Features of the free version include:

Definitions and synonyms
Proper nouns
Related words
Pronunciations

150 000 root words
120 000 synonym sets
Look up words in almost any program

Millions of people from all over the world use this top-rated software.

Interestingly, the licensing terms for the free version of the program indicates that it's actually Greenwarew rather than pure freeware:

You may use the program free of charge indefinitely only if

    * You take at most 4 flights (2 return flights) in any 12 month period
    * AND you do not own or regularly drive an SUV (sports utility vehicle).
--- End quote ---

It make me feel good to see software authors spreading awareness about our environmental issues (thou honestly I suspect most users just don't read/ignore the license).

Nice to see WordWeb finally received the one-click feature I have been asking for. Now it is as fast as Babylon.

The 'standard' Pro version is priced o'kay, but you may spend your money:

O'Kay; you're not affiliated with WordWeb, but to my understanding you are very much affiliated with Mobysaurus Thesaurus - which supports / integrates into WordWeb. In my Babylon I have Moby Thesaurus. Is this your doing as well? If not, as I expect: May the bigger Mobysaurus Thesaurus at some time offer support for Babylon?

Good idea. I'm not sure Babylon allows integration with 3rd-party programs since I'm not able to find relevant info regarding this support.
