Google Talk

(1/1)

mouser:
Anyone tried Google Talk yet?

http://www.google.com/talk/

Google Talk enables you to call or send instant messages to your friends for free–anytime, anywhere in the world. Google Talk offers you:
Choice: Get in touch how and when you want to–over email, IM or a call
Quality: Talk through your computer but hear your friends as if they were in the same room
Convenience: Your Gmail contacts are pre-loaded into Google Talk so inviting or talking to your friends is just a click away

Yeah, looks good. No bloat. Minimalistic, just comunication without file sharing and the other crap.
Do you need a gmail invitation? I have a whole bunch left.

zridling:
I just loaded it, and it requires a Gmail account to chat. However, invitations are freely offered from within Google Talk. Cool.

I read somewhere, but could not confirm that Gmail is now open to the public.

Doesn't look like this to me. There is no "create account" button or something like that on http://www.gmail.com . Anyways I have 50 invitations left. Just PM me your e-mail-adress and you'll in.

zridling:
Found it. Here's a BusinessWeek article on Google Talk, and at the bottom in the last paragraph:
"But starting today, invites are no longer needed to get a Gmail account."

Not sure if that only applies to users in the US and UK, though.
