Photoshop - add supported online editor, soon...

over on cnet news.com

Like Adobe Remix, the hosted Photoshop service is set to be free and marketed as an entry-level version of Adobe's more sophisticated image-editing tools, including Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. Chizen envisions revenue from the Photoshop service coming from online advertising.

I rather doubt that. I don't think the price of CPU cycles is quite low enough for the advanced stuff. I'm guessing it will rotate, flip, resize, and do red-eye with little more. It's just a gateway freebie for people to buy their other stuff.

i guess you are right.

just having one layer (on top of the background layer) would be a nice - oh well, nevermind.

I think the key there will be "limited" layers. Each layer would add some kind of overhead and increase the expense. One layer is probably doable realistically (and maybe a couple more). N-layers wouldn't be realistic at the moment.

I suspect there will be file size restrictions too to save bandwidth - which means it will probably only be usable for web images.
