Shades: EDI messages? What's that?

Thank whatever higher force you tend to believe in that the curse of EDI has not befallen onto you...

For an example picture this: A system that is able to do all money managing required by a bank. Since there are a lot of different banks all over the world, each using a different system you can imagine that communication between such systems can be a monumental job. So a global organization was assigned to create standard messages to make communication easier.  EDI, EDIFACT, EDINE etc. are all different kinds of EDI messages, used by governments (EDI), financial markets (EDIFACT), energy markets (EDINE).

Personally I think that Notepad++ cannot handle all the "':" and "+" inside those messages, but then again...I'm not a programmer. :(

Hm, can you give an example of a message, or would that contain confidential information? Is it like one long line? - word-wrap word-splitting can be pretty 'costly' in Notepad++ (well, scintilla).

Codes have been changed to protect the innocent....or something like that. The format of this message is also obsolete, but you'll get the idea. A message like this doesn't pose problems, but when the size grows to 100Kbyte or more, Notepad++ completely loses track.

I use Akelpad renamed to notepad. All you have to do is copy it to the dllcache directory first and you should have no problems.

- I actually did use AkelPad for at least half a year.
Now I are merely using the small GetDiz (.txt, .diz, .nfo), and I like it :-)

Personally I use several text editors (depending the task) but you can always find EDXOR on my computer. It's freeware, 35 Kbyte and you can get it here.

On this page you will find the tool, an image that shows most of the options and multi-lingual manuals. It's interface might feel a bit spartan, but that is actually one of the reasons why I like it.
