Calling people on my PC

Hi.

I was wondering whether it was possible to call people with my computer NOT via the internet

like via the dial up modem?

any help would be great~

it's definitely possible - i've done it myself.

you need a modem that supports answering machine / voice mail type technology and soft software that can control the modem.

this thread discusses software for using your pc as an answering machine but basically any software+modem that can do answering machine functions on your pc can also let you dial your phone from your pc:
