Latest Version Thread - 1.02.02
« on: August 19, 2005, 07:31 PM »
https://www.donation...ScreenshotCaptor.exe

latest version - i've removed the drawing tools from the toolbar so that don't confuse people; they will be back when the functions are implemented.  i'd like to release this soon to the public and then we can add the drawing functions in the next version.

v1.02.02 - 8/19/05
added color modification effects dialog to SpecialEffects menu
added redo support
improved resize dialog to make it easier to add even borders
moved options button on toolbar to top
added autoprint option to OnCapture tab
added support for deluxe universal donationcoder license keys
improved about box
hold ctrl key down while selecting item from MoveTo menu to navigate to directory instead of moving to it

personally i think they are kind of useless -
for all such things you are better off configuring an external editor to use with screenshot captor and using that,
but i thought i would add it anyway since its a built in part of the image processing component.

I'm just happy the resize feature includes percentage resizing (which is easiest). Man, this tool just keeps getting better and better. One thing you've already beaten SnagIt at is capture hotkeys. You can program them for different inputs in SnagIt, but it's not easy. With ScreenshotCaptor, just remember which one you need and voila! Done.

In the Adjust Colors and More dialog, is there any way to make the Lock Preview checkbox sticky? That's another detail few would have added, but what a convenient option to see your changes actively. And hey, you've got to have a keyboard shortcut associated with this dialog right? Some users will be spending a lot of time there. (Maybe CTRL+A for 'adjust'?)

Okay, back to work. I've had a headache all day and researching and evaluating archive apps is making my head spin now that it's past midnight.

i'll add a hotkey for it if you want, though ctrl+a is no good since it does select-all in the browse dialog.
yes i believe i can make the preview sticky.

the one thing im happy about with new version wrt hotkeys is if you click tray you see the custom hotkeys youve configured for each capture mode, so its a good way if you forget just right click on tray icon for a reminder.

The capture key assignments don't match their functions in this version.

In reality ...

C+S+PrintScreen - captures fixed region
C+A+PrintScreen - captures Windows Object

but this is not what the Capture menu says ;)

NO No NO!
Not all people have installed even an freeware editor
and want to handle this extra program.
( aah, btw, do you all know about  Photofiltre.com ??? It's good for an link in the help too)

Don't take us as "role model", we are experienced, the most
have ony one kind of Windows and MS Office, not many more.

And second there are a many how could use your app
in an company environment without admin rights
so all this basic features in one non-install
and non-registry used application is such great !

Many thanks, mouser

Yes, and the language is country dependent, mine is in german  :)
Are this component somewhere documented, e.g. regarding to the "own filter" ?
Or what's  the name of this component so i could google for that.

the graphic component is thanked in help file, it is ImageEn:

i don't see much documentation about filters though.

yes good idea to add some links to some good freeware graphics editors in help file.

Yes i agree.

And also i can't cancel "an capture request" with the ESC key.

- start e.g. capture fixed region
- change your mind and want to cancel this capture
- pressing ESC-key doeas nothing.

.

yep, escape cancel needs to be made to work too.

basically here is what i hope to do:

1) capturing of windows objects + windows should be made not to trigger on left click of mouse.
2) instead they should draw a little border around the current object to be captured as you move your mouse so you can see what you are going to capture.
3) then when you are happy with the selection (and you should be able to select a menu too)
4) you hit ctrl+left click of mouse, and it captures
5) or escape to cancel.

sound good?

So we could stil use the left mouse
or ALT+key to open menus
or we are able to select the window we want from the tray first.
4) you hit ctrl+left click of mouse, and it captures
Or ENTER-key
5) or escape to cancel.

sound good?
YES  :)

the idea would be that you could still use the mouse and keyboard as normal, open menus, etc.
and only when you are selecting exactly what you want to capture do you hit alt+leftclick to capture it.
