Does urlsnooper send a packet of its own?
« on: January 21, 2007, 09:20 PM »
Whenever I look at all the packets being sent with urlsnooper (in non-promiscuous mode), the first packet is always to https://www.donationcoder.com. Is URL snooper really sending a packet to donationcoder everytime I start sniffing? That would be extraordinarily bad for users like me where the detection of a sniffer could mean big trouble, even if only scanning my own computer. Thanks.

the automatic network adapter detection loads a test file at donationcoder.com - ive been thinking of changing it to google or something just to reduce  people from being worries about such things.

however, if you have any concerns the solution is super simple - go to advanced mode and disable automatic network detection - that should stop it completely

ps. make sure you have latest version as well.
