HushedCrush: When Talking to Someone is the Wrong Thing to Do

Don't have it in you to introduce yourself to that special person. Well, just send them an anonymous email!

Got a Crush and Don't Know What to Do?
That's where we come in!

Our system is pretty simple: You enter your email, your crush's email, and a message. They get sent an anonymous email from us inviting them to do the same thing. If they enter your email as one of their crushes, we email you and send them the message you entered.

Use our free MySpace widgets to display your crush count and the number of people who like you!

Hmm... sounds like one of those things that collects mail addresses and sells them to spammers  :(

I had the exact same feeling when i saw it. It can reach lots of people, so it's perfect for that kind of stuff.

It certainly leaves things wide open for exploitation.  I hope I am wrong.

I've been noticing "you have a secret admirer" e-mails in my spam trap for years - this just looks like more of the same.

As the person who made the site, I can tell you it doesn't sell emails to anyone. :)

It was an exercise to figure out the simplest site I could make that would have viral potential.  There is a write up about it at:

Always nice to see the authors around here. Sorry that we're always so suspicious, but considering (as you mention yourself) the viral nature, as well as the multitude of spam mails from sites with a similar idea... ;D

It's good to know that, and i love to see the authors posting here, it means they care.
Thanks for the explanation, it's good to see you added the privacy policy page!
