16 bit systemon windows XP
« on: December 26, 2006, 06:59 PM »
I have encountered a problem. It seems that the 16 bit system of my windows XP is defective!! There are some apps. that seemingly requires this system to install. I could always do a recovery from backup but with the type of software bundling I have on this computer, I very much hesitate to do that. I cannot do a simple repair because window XP is available only as a bundle. This means many many hours of desinstalling all kinds of sh...t software that is not needed or even wanted.
The backup copy is the same bundle as what is on the recovery partition on the hard disk.
Does anyone know of a way to repair XP without reinstalling this bundle?
Regards,
JR

http://support.micro....com/kb/314495/en-us does not help? Try search some more at mskb. Dont think there is a part of XP called "16bit system", go for a fix rather than reinstall.

If important system file is missing running "sfc /scannow" should help.
