What Websites Offer Free Multimedia Resources For Use In Software?

(1/1)

tinjaw:
As I work on my game I am curious what resources are out there for developers in search of sounds, music, graphics, icons, video, etc for their applications. I am only aware of a few.

* deviantArt
* Creative Commons
* Stock.XCHNG
What other websites out there are you folks aware of?

mouser:
There are some sound effects and loops here:

I've found a few more over the past few days.

Texture Source
TextureSource.org provides a space for users to share high resolution original textures for use in games, 3d rendering, photo manipulation, and anything else you can think of! Membership is free and there is never any charge to download or upload textures. You can even specify usage rights for your images to make sure your copyrights are respected.

Reiner's Tilesets
This is site is incredible. They have a ton of free isometric and orthogonal tiles of all kinds.

scriptedfun:
Ari Feldman's Spritelib is a high-quality pixel art library which I use a lot when I write games. The games on my site use them, and so do the video tutorials, and a couple of the entries that I submitted to the Accessibility Coding Contest.

app103:
I found another site:

Beachware has placed their entire collection "A Zillion Sounds" online in .MP3 format, free for non-commercial use.

If you want to use their sounds commercially, you have to buy the full set, which is offered as either a download or on CD, in Mac (.AIF) or Windows (.WAV) format. Purchasing the set gives you the full collection of 5000 sounds to use, royalty free...and at only $20, it's a real bargain.

This is a great set for sound effects in software and casual games and I have owned the set on CD for a long time and have used them in some of my apps in the past. (Instant Boss users should recognize this one)

I think it's fantastic that they have put the whole collection online for free.
