i think the icon would look much nicer if the background was transparent so that it blend in with all types of themes..

I don't want to be a spoil sport but in my book an icon should stand out, be striking. While the design above may be nice (if you zoom), under normal circumstances it's completely non-descript. Looking at my current taskbar, all the icons shown are quite distinct including the current "running man". Don't change for the sake of changing if it is not an improvement.

I did another one. I remember someone in the forum complaining that the FARR-icon looked too much like a bluetooth icon, so I changed colour to... purple. Maybe that'll stand out? I like hamradios suggestion too, btw, but I really like that funny looking running guy

Thanks, mouser!
I was thinking the same thing about user configurable icons.
If it weren't for the fact that 16x16 is so small, nudones key with the running man on it (instead of 'f') would be my suggestion. Probably'd be too hard to see though.
Speaking of key with the running man, I should get the painting kit out and paint the guy on my 'Pause' key...
edit: attached is zipped icon with several formats contained

i like the running man design - it's what i understand to mean 'find and run robot'. it's distinct and doesn't resemble the other tray icons i've seen (when was the last time you saw a humamoid figure in the tray)?
but i think TucknDar is right about the colour. blue doesn't stand out so much - the purple background is a good idea - i can't remember ever seeing that colour in my tray before.

here's a slightly different version of TucknDar's idea.

nudone the artifacts on your round running mans are a bit distracting to me.. could you attach your original squarish one above, i kind of liked that one. ps. confirmed i have added the ability to select from a few preset icon images, so users can choose included so far are: original nudone's enhanced tuckndar's purple hamradio's F nudone's F Key so here is your change to be immortalized forever in farr by submitting an icon. ps. i'd say my favorites are (in no particular order) hamradio's F, nudone's F Key, TuckNDar's Purple for those who like the running man, tuckndar's looks pretty nice in the tray i think.

TucknDar: I love the one you did. Definitelly a winner. Could you just reduce a bit the lighting in the man's arm? it makes it hard to understand that bit in the icon version. I also think that the one hamradio did is pretty cool!

Thanks! here's an updated version, as 256x256 icon, 16x16 icon and zipped version with several formats included in .ico Icons created with Gimp and Microangelo Toolset 6.

not entirely sure if this is what you were asking for (i don't have the ugly non rounded running man icon anyway if that is what you meant).
i've removed the background to the 'farr key' icon to match lanux128's request - and made a second version.
(i'll email the icon files to you, mouser.)

@TucknDar: Exactly what i had in mind. I think it's much better now, thanks!! I think this is a good idea for farr v2 because it means "the same idea, just VERY refined" @nudone: good job, i like this new version much more than i likes the other one! Could you change the perspective just a bit so that the 'F' could be seen in the smaller version? On the running man icon, there are some black pixels in the man's figure, i think that's the "artifacts" that mouser meant.

ah yes, i'm sure you are right. but the black pixels were there to provide contrast in those areas so that the figure would stand out more - if you look close you'll see i added a nose. just for my own amusement, of course. i can remove them but i'll let TucknDar's figure stand as the only running man icon - no need to have several versions really. i'll do another F key version later so that it's angled better for the 16x16 icon.

Hi, i've made my own tray icon. Do i need an unreleased version to try it? Or there's some way to load it into v1.13?
