I also agree with your explanation of the flip out panel for filter groups mouser.  Will you be able to have it only come up when you press the button (as opposed to remembering the last state of the window)? 

Yeah, full-text search as a plugin would be awesome.  Features, features, features.

i'm a big fan of remembering window state; so it will be like a toggle button and will stay visible over repeated runs until you close it.
