Microsoft + Novell = ?

Ok, so everybody has heard the news, what do you all think? I've heard everything from mild amusement to wild-eyed speculations on the imminency of disaster. I think the whole thing smells like money and that may be as far as it goes... a way for Novell to make money while upholding the ethics of Open Source and a way for Microsoft to make money off of something that is free. Of course I could be horribly, dangerously wrong.

This sounds like a win-win for the IT industry but more importantly the consumers. We will have greater choice and peace of mind. WE can deploy the best of open source and proprietary software side-by-side. I am very excited to see where this leads the Tech industry.

I think it's just another episode in the war of FUD, patents, etc., after the SCO one failed.
