Better:
- Support for BMP files
- Create an Active Cropper tool
- Support for watermarking
- Bulk upload support

Just not sure if I want to create a cropper tool for it.  Not sure if that is starting to going against its purpose; fast and clean resized images.

I will let the tool get some exposure for a month or so before I start coding support for BMP files and will see at that time whats lacking.

Thanx for the positive feedback.

Bulk upload support? Where is that and how does that work?

I have a friend that is in dire need of something to batch resize a bunch of pics from his camera. But all I can see on the page is uploading 1 file at a time.

Actually, he may be in touch with you very soon as it's a large amount of pics that need resizing...almost a gig.

I spent about an hour trying to talk him into downloading irfanview.

He didn't want to install anything on his pc to do it and he couldn't figure out how to batch resize in Photoshop.

After he attempted his own script on his server and running into probs with file sizes and couldn't figure out why, he gave up and finally followed my advice.  :D

What he was trying to do was write a script so he would be able to upload the originals, they would be automatically resized and stored, for his mom to download later.

He had a ton of 3008x2000 photos. Resizing them to 500 pixel width with his script, he was getting internal server errors...but it worked fine with 100 pixel width.

He didn't want to install anything on his pc to do it

the answer to that is simple: have a stern talk with him and if that fails hit him over the head with a bat and install the software yourself.  that's just silly.

Well, he did learn a bit more about using GD, so it wasn't a total waste of time.

This post because I never heard of this app until today, when the site was recommended in general by our friend Gizmo:

PictureResizer

PictureResizer is a small and very easy to use application for fast image resizements. It allows to resize complete folder contents regarding a fixed width. If necessary, new created pictures can be saved with a prefix or into a new created, specific folder. PictureResizer is not a tool to come over to the needs of professial photographers, but it's helpful resizing images for internet or email utilisation.

Bulk upload support? Where is that and how does that work?

No bulk upload support, yet.  Something I may add in a future version but was concerned that the bulk upload / resizing could hurt my server performance for all my other domains.  This is something I need to test first and see what the strain could be.

Quick Thumbnail has been update with:
  • Filters: Greyscale, Sepia, Negative, Emboss, Blur, Sketch, Edge
  • Ability to resize and image from a URL

Suggestions are always welcomed.

@ Veign: Is is too much to already hope for a future DLL for Windows, giving a context menu with all the options pre-listed (with direct links) - and option to auto-download to the same folder with the file renamed (original name + the new size as suffix)?

Yeah it would be too much since I have been shifting away from desktop development, and therefore DLL's, for the past year.  All of my focus is now on web development.

Feel free to post suggestions to the website though   :)
