Eight security sandboxes reviewed by Gizmo
« on: October 28, 2006, 11:03 AM »

Gizmo over at Tech Support Alert has reviewed a number of security sandboxes.

http://www.techsupportalert.com/security_virtualization.htm

It is an interesting read...

Has anyone here tried any of them and had a bad experience of any kind? Like incompatibility with antivirus software, firewall, defragmentation apps etc..

I've been using Sandboxie for a long time and haven't had any problems with incompatibility.

I've use sandboxIE for some time as well without any problems.

I did start using something else (that escapes me at the moment): but that involved far too many restarts to set up the sandbox environment.

At one point, I got some kind of deal on Shadowsurfer and tried it for a while. Worked well enough, but I've used Sandboxie for a long time and like it. (I even use it on my P3 "sandbox" machine! <bg>)
I did check out Greenborder and it's really slick, but you have to renew the license each year ($30!), and I'm too cheap for that. Just ask Bite-sized trouble.
