really good spell check tool wanted

(1/5) > >>

kalos:
hello

I would like a program to check the text I type in every application (text editor, web browser, etc) and to be able to include/exclude applications

I want to check the spelling and either correct it on-the-fly, or the program to suggest me about possible corrections (with a nice dropdown menu or something)

I want to be able to use my own custom dictionary

I want it to work with a non-english and English language at the same time (2 or more dictionaries loaded) but ofcourse, not to do the double time or use the double system resources to check some text
it should recognize the language I type each time (I change keyboard languages with ctrl+alt) and use the relevant only dictionary to perform spell check (so it wont load two dictionaries each time)

I want it to autocorrect/autoreplace specific text (replace it on-the-fly) with some other text I specify, and I must be able to specify this text using wildcard/regex (althouth many programs have autocorrect features, no one supports wildcards/regex and thus they are very limited)

I want to type something and the program to autocomplete the words I begin to type like OpenOffice does (openoffice's is nice, if there is anything better it would be ok)
autocomplete should monitor the most frequently used words in the specific document and suggest them first or globally (in all documents) monitor most frequently used words

I hope I will find a solution here!

thanks

i don't know if there is a program to do all of what you ask, but you might check out "as-u-type": http://www.asutype.com/

I use this:

http://www.alcodasoftware.com/word-spring.htm

It will certainly do nearly all you want; although i'm not completely sure it auto-detects language change ... but it's very easy to specify languages.

tinjaw:
I'm not sure if it meets all of your needs. But I have used tinySpell+ for over a year and it does everything I need it to do. YMMV. There is a free version as well, tinySpell.

Nighted:
Quickspell is good and it nowhere near as annoying as As-U-Type.
