address bar replacement

(1/1)

quixos:
an idea perhaps for v3 ;)

integration into the taskbar. sleek unobtrusive configurable functionality.

it would blow that lame windows address toolbar out of the water.
like gnome mini-commander, only much, much better.

i could go on and on about this, but won't. :D

"lame
adj 1: pathetically lacking in force or effectiveness;" yep.

mouser:
i've thought about this -
i almost made f&r a proper toolbar.. but the problem is that it needs more space vertically for displaying results, and then you have to ask if its really worth the effort.  if there was no results window then this would be much more valuable mode of operation.

cracksloth:
i am not a big fan of integrating it into explorer as a toolbar because it would become useless to those who use alternative shells (like i do).  in addition, i like that f&r doesn't take up screen real estate.  dig it, yo?

rbeeger:
I think cracksloth is right.
You would have to click into it if it were integrated into the taskbar.
I think pressing break and starting to type is really fast.
BTW: As long as you don't want to start anything new, Find & Run is of no interest to you. There is no point in having it permanently visible.

mouser:
yep, rbeeger is making point i thought of too-
what's the point of it being on screen when it's not being used - it doesn't provide any useful information.
