OK, FARR is now both faster and more useable! I assume that is the memory retention. FARR now sits around 10MB whereas before it would drop to 3MB then go up on activation.

Starting up FARR (I let my history show on a blank search) still causes about ~1400 disk I/O operations. This is multiple reads of each history item - I assume this is reading the icon. It would be good if this could be cached somehow too.

The disk is still showing lots of I/O during search, but FARR is snappier than before.

This is promising indeed mouser!

ok my next work will be to really examine these extra disk reads and see if i cant remove some, still without going to full cache yet.

How much of a Beta is this version. I am running 1.0905 and am quite happy, though can't help watching here to see what improvements are coming. I usually wait for an official release before updating, afraid I may mess up too many things.
Any advice as I am tempted to switch?

mouser:
its extremely safe to install a beta right on top of old version (just exit from tray first).
you can always roll back and the betas wont do any damage.

in general, after a day of them being released if no one has reported any disasters just go ahead and install.
