We've mentioned these tools before,
vibe streamer: http://www.donationcoder....um/index.php?topic=3981.0
subsonic: http://www.donationcoder....um/index.php?topic=5193.0

I think it's about time someone did a review of these tools!

Here's a new one, Jinzora:

Quote
Jinzora enables you to stream your digital music and videos to any internet connected computer using a web browser.

Streaming your media with Jinzora gives you quick and easy access to your online music collection from any internet connected computer. Have a large CD or mp3 collection? Use Jinzora to organize and then access your collection from anywhere. Want to play your digital music on your home stereo? Connect your pc to your home stereo and use the Jukebox features of Jinzora to play your music. Play in a band? Use Jinzora to share your music with the world.

Also might be worth a look, more of a jukebox tool but also with some web features and getting TONS of attention lately, Songbird:

Jinzora, if am not mistaken is unlike any of these other programs you mentioned. It's a PHP script to be installed on a web server.

It is similar to http://www.turnstyle.com/andromeda/ and http://www.pancake.org/zina/index.html.

Is Songbird a MP3 web server?? huh Last time I checked it was a iTunes clone with a embedded browser (thanks to Gecko and XUL). But who knows? The latest proof of concept don't work on my computer, so I was unable to check any capability Angry

I've looked at a lot of these tools and have yet to find the "perfect" one. This is another class of app I'd love to do a review of though. If only I could find the time. cheesy Btw latest version of Winamp has an "Orbitz Powered" streaming system in it, apparently.

I'm so glad breakbeat techno isn't an illegal drug

I had forgotten about Andromada. Was it alway pay to play? I thought I remember it being freeware? However, based on a quick gander to the Jinzora website, it looks like it is the winner without the need for a review. In fact, I'm downloading it right now and I'm going to start using it to pipe music to my day job location.  dance
